System Administrator

The Systems Administrator will have responsibility for server operations at OSU Facilities Management and will be responsible for technical infrastructure supporting OSU Facilities Management. The incumbent will manage multiple servers independently within the environment. The Systems Administrator has the responsibility to maintain sufficient knowledge and skills to improve the services being provided, as well as keep up with the day-to-day operations of the services. Will work with moderate supervision and report to the FM IT Manager.

Work will be required outside of normal office hours as needed. The physical requirements of the position will include use of a keyboard and mouse; and lifting up to 50 lbs.

Due to communication expectations of the position, the incumbent will be required to maintain a personal cell phone and will be required to be continually available during and after normal working hours. The incumbent’s salary includes compensation to apply toward the use of their personal cellular device.

Education & Experience

Position Qualifications:

Required:
High school/GED and four years of system administration experience; or two years of post-secondary education and two years related experience; or Bachelor’s degree with 0-6 months experience. Successful completion of a Bachelor’s degree is required within six years of hire.

Have before hire and maintain after hire a valid driver’s license. A valid driver’s license must be maintained for the operation of an OSU vehicle, which is required in the performance of job duties as assigned.

Experience maintaining Linux Servers, Windows Servers, and VMware systems in a production environment. Ability to analyze and resolve user issues relating to both software and hardware components with minimal supervision. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to provide quality service to customers.

Preferred:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, Business or other computer-related field

Over three years of systems administration related experience.
