Summer 2017 Internship Opportunity | Information Technology

BorgWarner (Seneca, SC) has an exciting internship opportunity for Summer 2017.

This is a paid internship for Summer 2017 (May – August) but is flexible to start earlier.

The pay rate is $16 an hour and we require a minimum of 30 hours per week.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be a Computer Science or Computer Engineering Major
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5
  • Must be a sophomore or higher
  • Possess excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

SUMMARY:

Installs, modifies, and makes minor repairs to personal computer hardware and software systems, and provides technical assistance and training to system users.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Investigates and resolves user software and hardware problems.
  • Answers questions and applies knowledge of software, hardware and protocols.
  • Serve as liaison to programmers to explain software errors and/or recommend changes to programs. Contacts software and hardware vendors to request service regarding defective products.
  • Develop user training materials and train users on software and hardware, or source and recommend outside contractors to provide training.
  • Acquire thorough knowledge of organization’s hardware and software systems.
  • Maintains library of software systems and insures compliance with related company policies.
  • Inspects personal computer equipment and reads order sheet listing user requirements to prepare computer systems for set-up, delivery, and installation.
  • Installs or assists service personnel in installation of hardware and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, printers, and disk drives on user’s premises.
  • Loads specified software packages such as operating systems, word processing, or spreadsheet programs into computer.
  • Enters commands and observes system functions to verify correct system operation.
  • Responds to client inquiries concerning systems operation and diagnoses system hardware, software, and operator problems.
  • Instructs users in use of equipment, software, and manuals.
  • Recommends or performs minor remedial actions to correct problems.
  • Coordinates activities with help desk, network services, or other information systems groups.
  • Provides updates, status, and completion information to manager, problem request tracking system, and/or users, via voice mail, e-mail, or in-person communication.
  • Replaces defective or inadequate software packages.
  • Refers major hardware problems to service personnel for correction.
  • Utilize strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills.

Salary: $16.00 /hour
