One Kings Lane provides decorating inspiration and insight on our Style Guide blog and one-on-one, in-person advice from expert designers at The Studio at One Kings Lane, which has a showroom in New York.

The Studio is our physical showroom and design consultancy where customers can meet 1-1 with a designer and see our brand come to life. We’re revolutionizing the home decor market by giving shoppers a fresh alternative to a traditional retail experience.

The Opportunity

We are looking for an enthusiastic, talented and creative design-enthusiast to join our team at The Studio at One Kings Lane. The Designer at The Studio is a hybrid retail and design role, responsible for inspiring the customer and providing design concept recommendations using One Kings Lane product to generate sales and provide exceptional service.

Key Responsibilities

Proactively engage client network and build long term relationships with the goal of establishing repeat client experiences

Work one on one with clients to realize their design goals and present creative solutions using product from One Kings Lane

Engage with clients pre-appointments to understand their design projects, goals and style

Conduct 1-1 design consultations to clients both in person and virtually, managing all projects from beginning to end ensuring the OKL brand aesthetic is represented throughout

Use product information and design knowledge to show and explain merchandise features and benefits

Use product knowledge and selling techniques to drive sales that will contribute towards quarterly and individual sales goals

Close the sale, complete mock-ups, enter customer orders and recap of appointment

Suggest additional items based on assessing customer needs post visit

Help customers in a courteous, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic manner

Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of OKL products and brand vision

Provide product feedback that will enhance product offering to clients

Participate in ongoing product training with the buying team

Facilitate a positive relationship with the customer care team, providing full and complete information in a timely manner to support the resolution of all client service issues

Participate in marketing activities and events in The Studio to support building client relationships

Take initiative to fulfill customer needs in a timely and appropriate manner

Demonstrate an enthusiasm for design, including designers and the design industry

Skills & Requirements

Previous experience or education in interior design preferred

Previous retail sales experience preferred

Superior communications skills, both verbal and written

Ability to identify clients needs and provide a dynamic client experience

Design savvy with a love for Home Furnishings

Attention to detail and outstanding problem-solving skills

Ability to work nights and weekends
