Student Program Coordinator (Exempt)

Purpose
Supports MS students through exceptional service and providing opportunities that enhance their curriculum and overall experience while a student in the McCombs MS Programs. Serve as the point person for all alumni engagement with the program office. This is a centralized position that will support multiple programs.

Essential Functions
ALUMNI ENGAGEMENT: The MS Programs Coordinator will lead alumni engagement initiatives, including creating offerings for our alumni that service them, building out the web site page that offers resources to our alumni and finding creative ways to engage with them on and off campus. This position will develop and maintain an MS Programs alumni database that will be used for admissions, career services and other program purposes as well as track involvement by alumni in engagement activities. Will send comprehensive communication to alumni of various programs through regular newsletters and web site updates. The MS Programs Coordinator will lead the relationships and coordination of MS Councils for all MS programs. This position will be the liaison with the Development Office to ensure that there is coordination between Development and MSPO. This position will also lead any fundraising initiatives for alumni or current students, such as legacy fundraising. This position will construct and monitor the mentoring programs for the various MS Programs, including coordinating with the mentoring lead from the Advisory Council. EVENT PLANNING: The MS Programs Coordinator is responsible for MSPO-wide, large-scale events, (e.g. orientation, commencement and social events). The position will also support the Student Executive Committee on a variety of programming that they will produce as part of the committee, including alumni events and service events for the cohorts. MS+ OPPORTUNITIES: The MS Programs Coordinator will work in tandem with the program-specific coordinators on opportunities for their students, including workshops that utilize the skills they gain in the program (IBM Watson) and/or give them skills they do not gain through coursework (Tableau and FactSet). They will also coordinate alternative opportunities for students such as case competitions, hack-a-thons, etc., to create extracurricular opportunities for the students. These can be offered across programs or within programs. The MS Programs Coordinator is also tasked with partnering with departments and organizations campus-wide to find inter-disciplinary opportunities that mutually benefit multiple programs and schools. The MS Programs Coordinator will be charged with leading the MS Programs Student Executive Committee and ensuring that their engagement is beneficial for both the student participants and the program office. MSPO SUPPORT: The MS Programs Coordinator will support the Program Manager on on-going projects, as assigned. MS PROGRAMS GROWTH: The MS Programs Coordinator will focus on growth opportunities for MS Programs, including building relationships with new corporate partners for all MS Programs, educating industries about the MS Programs and exploring online education opportunities and sponsorship.

Required qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a field related to the work to be performed and 1-2 years of experience coordinating or administering higher education programming. Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize multiple ongoing responsibilities, attention to detail, effective oral and written communication, and good problem solving skills. The required skill set includes a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, and web-based programs.
Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Experience working with alumni populations.

May work around standard office conditions
Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation
Some evening and weekend hours may be required during peak periods or special events. This position may work in a shared office environment.

A criminal history background check will be required
for finalist(s) under consideration for this position.

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement
System of Texas ( TRS ), subject to the
position being at least 20 hours per week and at least
135 days in length.
