Job Title: Student Accounts Manager

Position Summary: Facilitating the coordination of billing and collections of the student accounts, supervision of the Student Accounts staff members, and providing students with accurate information regarding payment plans and status of accounts.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
1. Provide counseling and information to students, employees, former students, and non-University affiliates on repayment plans and financial planning for the collections of campus-based student loan accounts and delinquent accounts receivable, by responding to written correspondence, telephone and personal inquiries from loan recipients, debtors and University departments.

2. Oversees the supervision of assigned personnel, which includes work allocation, training, and problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions; motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.

3. Establishes policies and procedures for payment posting, adjustments, financial holds; monitors and control all anomalies, underpayments and excessive outstanding balances; develops and/or assists in the development of general operating goals, objectives, policies and procedures.

4. Oversee the financial appeals committee and provide updates regarding decisions made.

5. Supervise, develop, evaluate and execute the collection, scheduling, research, analysis and distribution of receivable account invoices and tuition funds.

6. Remain current on university admissions requirements, scholarship requirements, accounting standards, academic program requirements, content, procedures and support services. Periodically review with staff all requirements and changes as needed. Assist in preparation and publication of institutional reports and printing materials in response to requests regarding the university, university services, course offerings, registration procedures, financial aid, financial arrangements, and individual account maintenance.

7. Compile data and produce IRS forms 1098-T Tuition statements.

Other Job Responsibilities:
1. Act as primary backup to the Student Accounts Representatives, Accounts Receivable Representative, Senior Account Collections Specialist in their absence. Act as secondary backup to Student Accounts Cashier and Springfield Student Accounts Manager in their absence.

2. Review weekly refunds as prepared by the Accounts Receivable Representative.

3. Act as institutional contact for the collection of Federal Perkins loans and remain current on federal regulations as they apply to Perkins loan funds and implementing any changes as required. Responsible for disseminating this information to staff as needed.

4. Update the Student Accounts website as needed.

Minimum Job Requirements:
Education: Bachelors Degree. Accounting degree preferred.

Experience: Three to five years financial experience, working with a diverse population, preferably within a college or university setting, required.

Specific Skills:
o Must have ability to work and make decisions independently.

o Must have ability to initiate projects.

o Must have advanced computational skills.

o Must have ability to write reports and compose correspondence.

o Must have high level of professionalism in dealing with a diverse group of people including students, University staff, alumni, parents, business people, etc.

o Must have high-level organizational skills.

o Must possess a high degree of confidentiality.

Specific Knowledge, Licenses, Certifications:
Knowledge of student account procedures, standards and documentation.

Knowledge of Perkins loan procedures and regulations as well as some

Knowledge of financial aid procedures.

Supervisory Responsibility (if applicable): Student Accounts Cashier, Accounts Receivable Representatives, Accounts Receivable Representative, Senior Account Collections Specialist at Lisle campus and Student Accounts Manager at Springfield campus.

Working Conditions: Usual office environmental conditions.
