While Oxford corporate office is located in Midtown Atlanta, we are working in a remote capacity. While there are occasional requirements for “in office” meetings and collaboration, generally this position will work remote and we are open to remote candidates.

The Staff Accountant performs a wide variety of accounting functions, including establishing and maintaining accounting records for a combination of general accounting and retail/wholesale inventory systems. Duties include a wide range of exposure to general ledger accounting (with associated entries and reconciliations) and related financial accounts or statement analyses.

  • Perform month end closing, including account analysis and journal entries, of retail, restaurants, wholesale, manufacturing and distribution for specific operating groups or business units, as assigned

  • Prepares journal entries of routine and non-routine accounting transactions with assistance as needed from Accounting Manager or more senior level accountants

  • Provides support and performs, under supervision, analysis and interpretation of variances and trends on financial statements for use by management

  • Assists in preparation of financial and operating reports including trial balances, adjustments and closing entries

  • Determine proper classification of fixed assets for depreciation purposes, and enter and monitor fixed asset transactions

  • Liaison with other departments and operating units concerning accounting information of subsidiary and other assigned areas

  • Prepare and maintain spreadsheets for account analysis and reconciliation, including inventory, pre-paids and accruals

  • Reconcile bank accounts and resolve pending items

  • Perform cash and credit card verifications. Research and resolve exceptions.

  • Process miscellaneous accounts payable transactions

  • Observe and reconcile physical inventory

  • Work with internal and external auditors

  • May act as a resource to lower level accountants and assist with their training

  • Participate in dept projects and process improvement efforts

  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting

  • 3+ years of relevant experience

  • Proficient computer skills in Excel (includes creation of pivot tables and formulas), Word, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook

  • Blackline experience a plus

  • SAP financial software exposure a plus

  • Strong Analytic and problem solving skills

  • Strong Data entry skills

  • Strong General ledger Accounting ; journal entry preparation; and reconciliation skills (preferred)

  • Work independently with minimal direction and accustom to working from task lists (preferred)

  • Good verbal and written communication skills
