Staff Accountant

Job Summary

Provides accounting support to the Chief Financial Officer by researching and analyzing accounting data; preparing reports, processing accounts payable, bank reconciliations, etc., to ensure that an effective and accurate operation is achieved.

Responsibilities and Duties

Accountant Job Duties:

  • Prepares asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
  • Documents financial transactions by entering account information.
  • Recommends financial actions by analyzing accounting options.
  • Summarizes current financial status by collecting information; preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports.
  • Substantiates financial transactions by auditing documents.
  • Maintains accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures.
  • Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
  • Secures financial information by completing data base backups.
  • Maintains financial security by following internal controls.
  • Prepares payments by matching supplier invoices to authorizing purchase orders and proofs of receipt, verifying documentation for non-cost of goods sold invoices, and preparing payments. Prepares weekly Vendor Aging Report
  • Maintains supplier master list, supplier W-9 files, Accounting files
  • Prepares special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
  • Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping financial information confidential.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Qualifications and Skills

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum of five years’ experience in any combination of accounting, financial planning and analysis, corporate finance,

CPA, preferred

Other Qualifications:

Corporate Finance, Reporting Skills, Accounts Payable, SFAS Rules, Attention to Detail, Deadline-Oriented, Reporting Research Results, Confidentiality, Time Management, Data Entry, Experience using SAP by Design, Advanced skill level with Microsoft Office Applications including Excel and PowerPoint
