Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant will assist the accounting group in providing the financial support for the business. The Staff Accountant is responsible for the preparation of various monthly reports, posting journal entries, reconciling various balance sheet accounts and general ledger analysis. Additional responsibilities include completing third party audit requests, fixed asset maintenance, inventory management, budgeting and other duties as defined by the Senior Financial Analyst.

The position is based in Canal Winchester, OH.

Reporting Relationships:

The Staff Accountant position reports to the Senior Financial Analyst. This position requires the individual to work on both independent projects as well as with cross functional teams.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform month-end closing processes and close the period
  • Reconcile fixed assets, enter assets into fixed asset software and prepare monthly depreciation journal entries
  • Prepare and post weekly (US & Mexico) payroll journal entries
  • Reconcile prepaid accounts, maintain prepaids spreadsheet, as well as preparing and posting monthly journal entries
  • Reconcile tooling reserve and maintain the tooling reserve spreadsheet
  • Review aging of open tooling invoices and request payment statuses
  • Review tooling projects with sales managers and prepare journal entries for completed/closed projects
  • Maintain the outstanding checks spreadsheet daily
  • Enter daily cash into the General Ledger and verify all cash receipts are allocated
  • Prepare and import weekly Promotora invoice journal entries into the General Ledger
  • Reconcile and maintain the “cash” accounts and cash reconciliation spreadsheet including Alabama’s cash account
  • Update the daily cash forecast spreadsheet
  • Initiate and validate wire/ACH payments
  • Setup weekly US dollar and pesos requests to Promotora on JPMorgan online banking site
  • Update accrual spreadsheets (medical/legal & professional) for management’s review
  • Review accrued utility/utilities accounts and phone accounts to maintain utilities/phone spreadsheet
  • System management including adding new product lines and cost units in chart of accounts and setting up G/L distributions for new product lines/locations
  • Update paid/not paid items in the tooling reserve and fixed assets spreadsheets
  • Review controllable expense report and reclassify expense items as needed or requested by General Managers
  • Update trial balance spreadsheet according to assigned balance sheet accounts
  • Complete the US census packet yearly
  • Renew executive vehicle tags yearly and maintain the vehicle lease spreadsheet when applicable

The Candidate :

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • CPA or requirements met for certification preferred

Professional Qualifications or Experience:

  • 3+ years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Attributes:

  • High level of proficiency in Excel for automating reporting, processing large volume of data, and interfacing with corporate reporting systems
  • Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with all levels of the company’s organization
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks efficiently
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently with little or no supervision
