Staff Accountant

NEW YORK CITY FOOTBALL CLUB OVERVIEW: As the 20th member of Major League Soccer, NYCFC strives to be the new benchmark for professional soccer in the United States. Looking to build on the successes of the 2017 campaign, NYCFC will kick off the fourth season in club history in 2018 at Yankee Stadium.

POSITION OVERVIEW: The Staff Accountant is responsible for a variety of accounting functions of New York City Football Club, City in the Community (CITC) Foundation, and CFG StadCo. Tasks include the completion of routine journal entries, maintaining up to date and accurate records of various assets and liabilities, while providing support to the Manager, Accounting and VP, Finance.

PRIMARY DUTIES:
Supports month-end close process, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, credit card reconciliations and variance analysis in compliance with US GAAP standards with adherence to a tight close calendar;

Assists in all phases of the procurement & accounts payable process, including maintaining vendor documentation, expense coding, and payment;

Maintains and tracks various expense and revenue accounts;

Supports department managers with the budget and forecasting process;

Maintains all fixed assets schedules;

Reviews and processes expense reports;

Supports in MLS league reporting & financial activity;

Assists in Manager, FP&A when necessary in accounts receivable/customer invoicing, assuring that invoices adhere to customer contracts and are coded and entered correctly in the general ledger;

Completes various ad hoc projects and analysis at request of Manager, Accounting;

Coordinates with UK based CFG Finance teams where possible;

Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
BA/BS in Accounting;

1-2 years of related experience and working knowledge of accounting principles;

Public Accounting experience preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must have a thorough knowledge of accounting processes and procedures;

Must have experience in accounting and ability to apply GAAP knowledge to general ledger accounting;

Must be highly organized and have initiative and drive;

Must have a natural sense of ownership for duties and deadlines, as well as drive for continuous improvement;

Demonstrated interpersonal and team building skills among all organization levels;

Demonstrated ability to work in an organized manner, prioritizing projects and managing time efficiently and effectively;

Must have an excellent knowledge of PC systems including MS Office (particularly Microsoft Excel) and accounting software (Agresso experience a plus);

Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills;

Must be able to listen effectively, transmits information accurately and actively seeks feedback.

Must have the ability to problem solve, be decisive and conduct oneself with poise and professionalism;

Must have a proven commitment and work ethic to achieve highest standards;

Must be able to handle confidential and sensitive information as well as records with a high degree of discretion, diligence and good judgment;

Demonstrates professionalism, discretion, and good judgment in all interactions with co-workers, customers, vendors and others;

Must be able to work non-standard hours, including nights, weekends, game days and holidays as required.
