Sr Project Engineer

Honeywell Defense and Space Systems (D&S)

products are found on virtually every military and space aircraft in service

today. Honeywell’s products range from actuation components, air and cabin

management systems, auxiliary power units, aviation biofuel, integrated cockpit

systems, engines, radios for navigation, communication and weather, sensors,

terrain and traffic awareness equipment and many more.

The Military Electronic Systems Applications

(MESA) organization has an opening for a Project Engineer position, to be

located in Albuquerque New Mexico. The role of the project engineer is that of

a liaison between the project manager and the technical disciplines involved in

a project. The project engineer is also often the primary technical point of

contact for the customer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of program schedule.
  • Pre-planning and program execution.
  • Perform resource forecasting for engineering

and other technical activities relating to the project.

  • Responsible for performance management of both

sub-contractors and/or vendors.

  • Assure the accuracy of financial forecasts,

which tie-in to project schedules.

  • Ensures projects are completed according to

project plans.

  • Project engineers manage project team

resources and training and develop extensive project management experience and

expertise.

  • Inter-disciplinary coordination, communication

and overall quality control of the work.

  • Support the identification of areas for

improvements using engineering knowledge and principals, with emphasis on

standardization and commonality of aircraft functions and engineering

development processes.

  • Support the development and execution of

Functional Content Items (FCI).

  • Support aerospace process initiatives, such as

3% Year over Year, Flawless Launch and Human User Experience (HUE).

  • Support Program Management in the development

of work scope definition and effort estimation.

  • Interface with internal and external customers

throughout the life of the project. May participate in project meetings and

presentations, and communicate any non-compliance to pertinent parties.

  • May support Technical Information Meetings

(TIMs), Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR), Critical Design Reviews (CDR), Flight

Testing and customer on-site visits.

  • Support various levels of configuration

control boards (CCB).

Qualifications

Must Have:


Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer or Systems Engineering



Candidates must be a U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident, due to export

control restrictions.

  • Minimum 5 years

avionics systems engineering experience



Experience working with customers, Project engineers, management.



Experience managing and directing activities related to projects

development of military and/or

commercial aircraft.



Experienced, goal oriented leader, with a “can-do” attitude, who can champion

change and possess excellent communications skills (both written and oral).

  • Demonstrate ability to be proactive and work

in fast pace, dynamic and self-directed environment.

  • Interpersonal skills to work with cross

functional teams.

  • Assertiveness at asking questions and

  • Promote customer satisfaction with capability

to establish effective working relationships with internal customers.
