NORC at the University of Chicago is seeking a Human Resources Associate to join our team in Albuquerque, New Mexico. NORC is an independent research institution that delivers reliable data and rigorous analysis to guide critical programmatic, business and policy decisions.

We are looking for someone experienced in recruiting and employee relations who can contribute substantially to the success of our operations in Albuquerque. The center houses 200 booths, as well as offices, workstations, and state of the art training rooms.

General Responsibilities

Nurture a positive working relationship with local and state agencies, local community groups, all employees within NORC, and the community at large

Collaborate with local, state and federal agencies to secure hiring and training assistance

Provide employee relations support

Produce standard reports; perform mail merges; maintain files

Participate in recruiting activities such as sourcing candidates, managing processes in our applicant tracking system, initiating background checks, and conducting orientations.

The HR Associate will also:
Manage and support the accurate and timely processing of employment transactions and data entry including new hires, rehires, status changes, pay rate changes and terminations, into the ADP HR system;

Provide employee relations support including counseling employees and documenting investigations in collaboration with the Chicago based HR team;

Manage leave of absence and worker’s compensation processes for call center in collaboration with Chicago-based HR team;

Support Site Operations Manager in the daily maintenance of the center;

Serve as backup to Site Operations Manager in area of building security, vendor management, fire/safety and other tasks as needed.

Required Skills

Required Experience

The HR Associate is an exempt-level generalist capable of handling full-cycle recruitment and employee relations (including conducting and documenting investigations). The ability to exercise sound judgment in the execution of tasks with minimal oversight is a critical success factor. A Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of experience in Human Resources is required.

Ideal candidates will be organized and pay attention to details and deadlines; have good customer service skills; have knowledge of Human Resources processes and procedures; good written and oral communication skills; good problem-solving skills. Previous experience with employee relations, HRIS, applicant tracking and on-boarding systems is highly desirable; ADP Enterprise experience preferred. Previous experience in a call center environment desired. Good working knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word, and MS Outlook is required.
