Sr Engineer, Systems Architecture

Senior Engineer OSS Systems Architecture & Strategy

  • Drive development of OSS (Operations and Support System) infrastructure for RAN and core network systems and will be the owner of new feature definition, specification and development coordination with the vendors.
  • Provide OSS network designs as required for new system and feature deployment.
  • Develop and maintain vendor’s 2 to 3 year roadmaps to ensure T-Mobile requirements are adequately met, and ensure requirement gaps identified as soon as possible.
  • Provide expertise for Business Cases development.
  • Manage technical review meetings with vendors.
  • Identify gaps in vendor designs and feature definitions from Design Document reviews with vendors
  • Determine which new functionality, features and major SW/HW releases are deployed in the T-Mobile network by working with other T-Mobile organizations
  • Research Region/Market needs for system requirements. Identify and drive vendors to provide solutions to the requirements

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for OSS infrastructure management network designs, backup/restoration, disaster recovery, development, and capacity dimensioning.
  • Responsible for reviewing all delta documentation and updating system design documents based on network impact of new HW/SW.
  • Support in drafting of detailed lab and FOA test plans, Method of Procedures (MOPs), Scope of work (SOWs) and implementation guidelines for new products, major releases and key features.
  • Responsible for drafting test cases for new OSS functionality.
  • Support new feature verification in the lab and FOA when Design level support is required.
  • Support Lab and FOA efforts when major issues or conflicts arise.
  • Support Regional/Market teams in new feature deployment and related issues.
  • Provide budgetary recommendations

Qualifications

  • Strong hands-on experience of Nokia OSS SAM/NSP/NetAct solution for LTE, UMTS and GSM RAN systems, and Core network elements.
  • Experienced in OSS infrastructure design, Feature definitions, Acceptance testing, Production Deployment, Technical Test Report Writing, Network Engineering, Network Optimization, Network Feature Evaluation.
  • Strong hands-on experience of Linux / Unix /Solaris Operating system
  • Strong knowledge of different TMN standard interfaces (i.e CORBA, LDAP, X25, XOE)
  • Strong knowledge of SQL database structures, database query writing and data manipulation
  • Strong hands-on experience of LTE, UMTS, GSM RAN and Core node integration into OSS infrastructure and operational experience using OSS platforms
  • Strong knowledge of OSS system backup and restoration design and disaster processes creation
  • Solid understanding of Virtual machine environment, network function virtualization (NFV) architecture, VMWare and its implementation
  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, internetworking, SNMP, Routing/Bridging, Cisco routers/switches, security gateways
  • Solid understanding of IP network design, internetworking, IP network security, network management
  • Good knowledge script writing, C++, C#, JS scripting and programing
  • Good computer skills, able to work flexible hours, self- motivated and ability to work under pressure, good interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work with other engineering groups to identify overall network issues and identify solutions
  • Professional certifications in Cloud computing, NFV, SDN, VMWare, OpenStack, programing / scripting an advantage, but not required.
