Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
BA/BS with two years of experience working for a college or university; or a combination of related education and experience to total six years. Advanced education may count toward years of experience.

Demonstrated/documented excellent project management skills, including previous experience managing large projects in a higher education environment.

Must be able to multi-task and prioritize job demands.

Must have excellent organization skills

Should be a self-starter, with a willingness to learn from others.

A proven track record of leading past projects to their conclusion.

Demonstrated/documented strong customer-service and relationship-building orientation.

Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience with an accreditation process and/or successful accreditation site visit.

Strong familiarity with project management software(s), theory, and practice; preference will be given to candidates with at least two years of project management experience.

Knowledge of areas, such as: process improvement, advanced time management, program and event coordination, and analytical skills.

Special Projects Manager – Office of Medical Education

Overview:
The Office of Medical Education (OME) at the University of Minnesota Medical School is looking for a detail-oriented Project Manager (PM) with experience managing complex projects and/or supporting quality improvement initiatives. Reporting to the Director of Accreditation, Compliance, and Continuous Quality (ACCQI) improvement, the PM will be responsible for managing projects that support the School’s self-study and strategic planning processes in preparation for the Medical School’s March 2020 site visit by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME).

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not necessarily limited to:

Project Manager (70%):
Develop and manage all aspects of special projects including project plans, communications strategy, stakeholder management, status updates (including executive memos and/or presentations).

Provide comprehensive project management support for LCME Accreditation process.

Anticipate and make recommendations for solving project-related problems, taking initiative to solve such problems if appropriate.

Clearly communicate project aims, objectives, and deadlines to stakeholders, integrating feedback from stakeholders in return.

Collaborate with the Director of ACCQI, the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Medical Education and other key staff in OME and other units to study data and processes, support performance improvement initiatives, build relationships across units, help implement new processes, and identify metrics for eventually evaluating and tracking the success of such interventions.

Participate in relevant projects as assigned, such as those related to academic planning, school policy, or strategic initiatives.

Propose opportunities for cross-collaboration on UME projects across departments in OME, AHC, and across institutions.

Process Improvement (15%):
Identify areas for process improvement/efficiency and implement new processes as appropriate.

Assist or lead in development and documentation (requirements and process flows) and procedures.

Committee Management (15%):
Staff accreditation self-study committee meetings, including developing and managing agendas with faculty and senior administrators, inviting and orienting subject matter experts to committee goals and objectives, taking and distributing meeting notes, writing reports, and tracking takeaways.
