Software Engineer – Integration Engineer

Purpose
This Software Engineer will be a technical member of the Identity and Access Management (IAM) Team. They will play a significant role in advancing the strategic IAM goals for services and driving the implementation of solutions to meet campus IAM needs.

Essential Functions
Translate requirements into designs and implement those designs through application configuration and programming. Provide operational and customer support for IAM services, including systems analysis, programming, investigating issues, and producing documentation. Ensure application quality by validating, testing, and documenting product releases. Ensure all products exhibit excellence in robustness, availability, security, data integrity, and failure tolerance. Work with project managers to monitor project tasks and ensure timely completion of milestones. Contribute to team software development standards, process improvements, and technical documentation.

Marginal/Incidental functions
Other related functions as assigned.

Required qualifications
One year of production experience with configuration and optimization of enterprise-level services/applications. Experience with Unix or Linux command line utilities and with shell scripting. Production programming experience with an object-oriented language. Demonstrated ability to analyze, test, and debug complex code. Production experience with SQL databases. Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing priorities in a multi-tasking environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills with both non-technical and technical users. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team and independently. Demonstrated ability to successfully meet deadlines.
Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications
At least one year of experience in systems design, analysis, and programming. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience. Experience configuring and maintaining authentication protocols including SAML2 and OAuth2. Experience with Java, Python, PHP, or similar toolset. Experience in Linux/Unix-based system integration, administration, and support. Experience with software build tools such as Ant, Gradle, or Maven. Experience implementing/integrating vendor software packages into a production environment. Experience with version control software such as Subversion, Git or Mercurial. Experience with automated testing tools such as JUnit, TestNG, or Selenium. Experience with application development middleware such as APIs, Enterprise Service Bus (ESB, etc.), web services (REST, SOAP) and/or Enterprise Resource Planning systems. Ability to configure and support Apache web servers and Tomcat application servers. Experience with LDAP directories. Experience performing security testing and managing complex technical projects. Experience with identity management or authentication software. Experience mentoring junior developers.

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement
System of Texas ( TRS ), subject to the
position being at least 20 hours per week and at least
135 days in length.
