Software Engineer (Entry-Level)

About the role

This stream is a fast track Software Engineering option in our Graduate Options Program for highly technical graduates with an interest in cutting-edge technology and the capital markets sector. Those chosen for this stream will help us develop our Delta Product Suite and be based locally, or go work as a Software Engineer at our client sites around the world.

Development is often in new areas of finance (e.g. exotic derivatives or in esoteric areas of curve building) and the developer will need an understanding of core financial concepts. The developer must be able to communicate effectively with other members of a small team and the end user, often a trader. The developer may in fact be responsible for all main post business analysis aspects of the software cycle including testing, documentation, integration, training and bug fixing

The initial training will take place in our HQ in Newry, Northern Ireland and will last approximately 5 weeks. During this time you will participate in our kdb+ and Kx product training under the “Big Data” stream of our Capital Markets Training Programme (CMTP). After the initial training in HQ, employees will be deployed to begin work on exciting projects in some of North America’s top financial cities. Typical locations include New York, Boston, Chicago and Toronto. On top of a competitive base salary, we provide all employees with a free city-center apartment, and cover all travel and expenses (food, commute to work, etc.).

This position is available for both summer and fall 2018 start dates.

What we’re looking for

-Minimum 3.4 GPA in a STEM discipline

-0-2 years of industry experience (this is an entry-level position)

-U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident status

-Desire to travel to different cities with home base in NYC

-Technical skills such as Java, Python, C++, C, SQL, Excel, VBA preferred
