Software Development Test Engineer

Summary

Sonic’s technology infrastructure has changed rapidly and as a result, the need for testing has also grown. At Sonic, the role of a Software Development Engineer in Test is instrumental in helping teams build and maintain automated tests to ensure high quality products are deployed to the brand. We are looking for, forward looking individuals with varying levels of work experience with an aptitude for learning new domains and testing methodologies.

Qualifications

  • BA or BS in Computer Science, or equivalent related work experience
  • 5+ years of relevant SDET experience required

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • A hands-on tester who is comfortable across a whole range of functional and cross-functional testing
  • Demonstrate experience with exploratory testing, not just working to test plans
  • Ability to demonstrate strategic thinking when developing tests
  • Ability to triage failures, identify root-cause, and define corrective actions
  • Using scripting to create automated tests
  • Feel comfortable working closely with developers, business and other quality analysts and clients in a highly collaborative environment
  • A knowledge of testing within an Agile development environment
  • 6+ years of manual and automated testing of business software applications
  • Experience with testing tools like CA Technologies, AWS Device Farm, HP UFT, TestTrack, TestRails and open source tools like PostMan, Appium, Sakuli X
  • Knowledge of scripting languages, like JavaScript, Python, Ruby, etc.
  • Exposure to Basic Java / .Net development environment
  • Ability to write code to test applications
  • Awareness of basic OO programming (Classes/Methods, Etc.)
  • Knowledge of SQL
  • The ability to work with Business Analysts and Project Managers to create and prioritize Test Plans.
  • Senior testers (6+ years) should possess demonstrable leadership thinking and expertise with testing methods, strategies, and tools
  • Ability to lead, mentor and guide team members
  • Experience in creating test frameworks
  • Experience with automated pipelines, such as Jenkins, GoCD, etc.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
