Software Developer/Integrator (Entry level or Experienced)

As a Software Developer/Integrator in Principal Global Investors, you will be responsible for supporting the Investment Operations area, troubleshooting issues, and working closely with business users on vendor and in-house developed applications. We work closely with both our business partners and our technical architects, so you’ll really be able to see how your work fits into the bigger picture!

The Investment Operations IT team supports multiple vendor applications and is responsible for the integration of data into and out of those applications. The technology stack we use is quite diverse – we do have a large footprint in Microsoft technologies (.NET, SQL Server and peripheral tooling like SSIS, SSRS, etc.) but have recently been using Informatica and MuleSoft for many of our ETL and data management needs. Additionally, we use Markit EDM (f.k.a. Cadis) for some of our Master Data Management initiatives. You will have the opportunity to work on long-term projects, as well as smaller short-termed enhancements, simultaneously, while managing the priority and target dates of your workload.

Qualifications:

• For Entry level candidates, we are looking for someone with a computer-related degree and one of the following:
  • strong classroom experience with T-SQL and a strong understanding of application/system support
  • or, an internship with heavy experience working with T-SQL and application/system support
• For Experienced candidates, we are looking for either:
  • someone with 1+ years of professional experience focusing on T-SQL and vendor and in-house developed application/system support (in this case, an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a science, technology, engineering, or math related field would suffice)
  • strong candidates would have a computer-related degree and 2+ years of professional IT experience including hands-on work with T-SQL, vendor and in-house developed application/system support, and exposure to many of the “preferred” skills listed below

Additional preferred experience:

• Markit EDM (Cadis) experience/familiarity would be a plus
• C# .NET (or some other type of OO language)
• Informatica and MuleSoft
• Experience with the Agile Scrum & Kanban methodology
