We are looking for a full-stack developer who can be a part of our rock star team, in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, to help design, code, test, and deliver the RiskGenius platform. The ideal candidate must be able to thrive in an environment where change is constant and conundrums abound. The development team uses Agile methodologies where all roles collaborate with one another to complete each unit of work – the story. This means communication skills and interpersonal skills are a must for this position.

This role is based out of our headquarters in beautiful Overland Park, Kansas (a suburb of Kansas City).

The Details

Design, implement, and unit test both frontend and backend application code

Participate in the full SDLC (Agile), including meetings, iterative development, estimations, and design sessions

Work with product owners to understand and implement complex business functionality

Deliver project assignments on time, within budget, and with high quality

Stay current with the newest online technologies, research new technologies, and make recommendations on implementations

Work with other senior developers to review stories and specifications and ensure that teams are meeting the objectives of the business while maintaining technical and architectural standards

Collaborate with other developers in designing and implementing integrated, enterprise solutions

Deconstruct problems, providing solutions from inception to delivery

Embrace the problem; RiskGenius solves some of the hardest issues in insurance, and the only thing we can guarantee is that there will be roadblocks, but we will think our smartest and work our hardest to find solutions

Your Genius Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or related field; or equivalent practical experience

3+ years of web development experience

Primary requirement is front-end web development; however, the position does offer each candidate flexibility to move and fit in the full stack; each story has a different need, requiring developers to contribute in multiple disciplines to better the product

Ability to contribute solutions to any issue or story related to the platform

Solid experience in Javascript, AngularJS/React/Backbone, HTML5, ES6, CSS

Understanding of machine learning, Java, and Python

Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills

Self-direction, ambition, and innovation

Solid communication skills; demonstrated ability to explain complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences

Strong understanding of the Software design/architecture process

Knowledge of cloud infrastructure technology such as AWS, Google Cloud, etc.

Skilled in coming up with simple design and elegant, readable code
