Grant Funded:
ICAP at Columbia University in the Mailman School of Public Health is seeking a Part-Time Health Informatics Assistant to support projects in the Strategic Information Unit. Under the guidance of the Informatics and Data Use Manager, the candidate will assist in configuring, documenting and providing training on ICAP-supported applications and/or assist in installation, configuration, and maintenance of ICAP’s health information systems.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITY:

• Assist in setting up various health informatics tools, such as DHIS2 and OpenMRS
• Adapt open-source health informatics tools to meet ICAP-specific data collection and data dissemination needs, such as SurveyCTO
• Support the development and implementation of workplans for informatics-related projects
• Develop and maintain active user support documentation using online collaboration
• Develop customized applications, as needed to support ICAP projects
• Install and configure various informatics applications, such as DHIS2 and OpenMRS
• Maintain tools on ICAP’s cloud infrastructure to meet ICAP-specific data collection and data dissemination needs
• Provide informatics-related troubleshooting, support and training to ICAP staff and other users of ICAP-informatics applications and tools
• Support other Strategic Information projects as needed
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications for Grade

Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant

• Bachelor’s degree in Informatics, Computer Science, Engineering, Epidemiology or related field
• Strong critical thinking, analytic, and verbal and written communication skills

Special Instructions

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to understand SQL queries/routines
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office, especially Excel
• Experience in developing documentation and training non-technical users as necessary
• Basic programming experience
• Experience working with DHIS2 and/or OpenMRS at a programmatic level
• Intermediate database development experience with open-source RDBMS tools
• Intermediate proficiency in a high-level programming or scripting language
• Intermediate proficiency in Java, Perl and/or PHP
• Experience building web applications with AngularJS, ExtJS, or similar frameworks
• Familiarity with .Net, VBScript, C
