Senior Systems Engineer

Responsibilities:

• Build relationships across organizational boundaries to gain a deep understanding of business and technical requirements.
• Provide customers and teammates with technical guidance that is based on strong technical skills and informed by the customer’s needs.
• Planning, Design, Implementation, Administration of Ubuntu, RHEL, CentOS
• Planning, Design, Upgrade, Implementation, Administration of VMware environments
• Technical Planning based on customer requirements
• Proactively look to improve and add efficiency to current process and exercise judgment in the decision-making process in order to provide consistent customer service.
• Participate in Change Control Board to ensure product standardization and adherence to policies and procedures.

Requirements:

• 8 years’ experience in an IT support role, preferably at an IT service provider. Including the following areas:
• Well versed in Distributed Computing concepts and Virtualization
• Strong Systems administration background VMware, Ubuntu, RHEL, CentOS
• TCP/IP stack and computer network concepts
• SDN admin experience required with emphasis on VMware NSX
• Experience with virtualization (KVM, Xen, VMware) in an OpenStack Environment
• Experience with scripting and automation (sh/bash/ksh/python/etc)
• Experience with Cisco Unified Computing System
• Experience with centralized authentication using NIS and/or LDAP

Preferred Qualities:

• Cloudify Experience is a plus
• Experience with Rapid MQ
• Experience with NAS storage using NFS and iSCSI, preferably EMC Isilon
• SNMP and monitoring tools (e.g. Zenoss, CA SystemEdge, netsnmp)
• Experience in a Service Provider environment
• Experience with other virtualization products
• Experience with converged networking in blade chassis environments (Cisco, Client, Dell or Oracle blades).
• Experience with other Unix/Linux operating systems (Suse, OEL, etc)
• Experience with configuration management tools (Puppet)
