Senior Release Engineer

Summary of Role

Puppet is looking for a Senior Release Engineer to help develop, maintain, and improve our software release lifecycle. As a Senior Release Engineer you will work closely with development, operations, marketing, and sales to maintain product integrity and ship the bits on time. You will make significant decisions about the design and implementation of software delivery pipelines and processes. If you care about how software gets built, distributed, and installed then this is the job for you!

Qualifications

  • You are a lifelong learner who collects new skills
  • You care deeply about the experience and satisfaction of users (internal and external)
  • You are proficient in the use of at least one interpreted language (like Ruby, Python, or Perl)
  • You’ve authored tools to automate building, testing, delivery of software
  • You are motivated by a strong desire to build tools that other people will use
  • You are proficient in the use of Windows, Linux, or Mac command line tools to get work done
  • You have a solid understanding of popular version control systems (like Git or Mercurial)
  • You have developed software on Linux systems.
  • You have some experience with packaging formats like rpm or dpkg

Bonus points will be awarded for

  • You have experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery methodologies and tools
  • You have experience with delivering and maintaining SaaS systems
  • You have some experience with compiled language like C, Go, or Rust
  • You can have a complete conversation with only animated gifs
  • You’re not afraid to use shell scripting in anger
  • You’ve maintained or contributed to packages for a linux distribution
