Senior Network Administrator

SUMMARY

This position is responsible for maintaining, configuring and administering computer networks including hardware, software, applications and device configurations. Configure, monitor and troubleshoot Cisco switches, various vendor firewalls, virtual server and block storage infrastructure.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides technical service support, installation, maintenance, and monitoring for network management.
  • Creation and updating of network documentation using Visio.
  • Responsible for firewall and load balancer configurations.
  • Responsible for virtual server infrastructure and virtual server backup infrastructure
  • Monitors the utilization of all networks to detect potential errors or problems and provides necessary prevention guidelines.
  • Monitors networks and servers to determine upgrade requirements and general utilization issues.
  • Conduct audits on all network equipment (routers, switches and access points) to ensure that all are using secure/standard configurations.
  • Provides new application ideas so that the appropriate technology can be utilized to gain better efficiency and improve productivity.
  • Maintains records, logs, and reports of assistance.
  • Provides written document on a monthly basis which defines upcoming needs of network which would require purchase of additional hardware and/or software.
  • Maintains network and PC preventative maintenance logging efforts to ensure network and data integrity.
  • Create and modify network ACLs, make switch port modifications and update firewall rules
  • Perform hardware and software upgrades for networking devices and maintain change control documentation.
  • Work directly with Internet Service Providers to address and restore connectivity issues.
  • Assist Help Desk as required and be available for weekend rotation.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Computer Sciences or equivalent work experience.
  • CCNA certifications would be preferred.
  • Strong VMWare vSphere 6.5 Enterprise experience (vMotion, High Availability, DRS)
  • Veeam Backup knowledge is essential
  • Intermediate level knowledge of firewall management, access list control and NAT preferably with Cisco ASA and Fortinet firewalls and/or Citrix NetScaler Load Balancers. Ability to upgrade and patch firmware on network infrastructure as necessary.
  • Working knowledge of virtual desktop infrastructure Citrix XenDesktop or VMWare Horizon a plus
  • Understanding of VOIP protocols, H.323, QOS, SIP, jitter and latency.
  • Must have strong grasp of routing protocols RIP, EIGRP and OSPF.
  • Must have strong grasp of switching protocols VTP, 801.Q, Etherchannel, LACP, Port Channel, STP, port security (mac address filtering) and VLANs. Strong Cisco Nexus and Catalyst experience preferred.
  • Must be familiar with network monitoring protocols SNMP, CDP, LLDP, syslog and Netflow.
  • Must be familiar with wireless technologies 802.11n, frequency allocation, and managed access points. Cisco Meraki and Aironet experience preferred.
  • Must be familiar with authentication/authorization protocols 802.1X, LDAP, RADIUS, and dual factor authentication.
  • Cisco UCS (Unified Computing System) experience preferred
  • Strong block storage iSCSI experience preferred
  • Splunk and or SIEM experience a plus.
  • Intermediate level understanding and experience with IPSEC VPN tunnels and Cisco AnyConnect VPN clients.
  • Intermediate level TCP/IP packet analysis using Wireshark and relevant tools.
  • Experience in designing, documentation, and administering systems/network architecture, access, security and connectivity.
  • Windows Server 2012, 2016 experience preferred
  • Linux knowledge a preference.
  • Software installation, server configuration, and hardware installation.
  • Strong focus on flexibility, ability to multi-task, attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, good follow-up and judgment. Must be able to prioritize.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment backed up by strong communication skills.
  • Troubleshooting and diagnostic skills, which include wide understanding of data.

  • Must possess excellent communication and writing skills, patience, professionalism and ability to effectively interact with staff and management alike.
  • Experience with Mobile Device Management and Cloud computing would be preferred.
