Senior Linux Systems Administrator

The successful candidate must have strong verbal and written communication skills and will receive and resolve escalated trouble tickets, automate repetitive tasks, and help plan for the future of the systems infrastructure. S/he will ensure adherence to processes/procedures/standards, and participate in the evaluation and implementation of new technologies.

Responsibilities

• Will maintain and extend the Eagle systems administration toolset used to automate and maintain 1000’s of servers.
• Must document processes and procedures to enable our Operational Teams autonomy.
• Collaborate with peers on planning, improving and further automation.
• Bring new automation technologies to help improve the overall system in both reliability and performance.
• Provides technical expertise for system administrators, system programmers, or others of equivalent seniority.

Required Skills & Background

• 5+ years of previous relevant systems administration and/or software development experience with infrastructure at scale
• Strong coding/scripting skills developing in at least one language (Bash, Perl, Python, Javascript, Ruby, etc.)
• Experience with infrastructure automation systems (Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Vagrant, vCenter Orchestrator)
• Ability to solve problems quickly and automate processes.
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills; capable of writing proposals or papers, making presentations to other internal teams or peers, and working closely with upper management.
• A solid understanding of Linux operating systems.
• Ability to work with limited supervision
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional work toward task completion.
• A solid understanding of networking/distributed computing environment concepts; understands principles of routing, client/server programming, and the design of consistent network-wide filesystem layouts. Desirable Background and Skills
• A degree or certificate in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field.
