Senior Database Administrator – DB2

The responsibility of the Senior Database Administrator is to maintain the availability and performance of IBM DB2 LUW v10.5 and v10.1 utilizing HADR in a Red Hat Linux 7.x, 6.x, and AIX 7.1 environment, and Oracle Version 12c, 11g, and 10g databases in a Red Hat Linux and AIX production environment. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Apply database knowledge in the areas of physical and logical database design, performance and tuning, backup and recovery procedures, database monitoring, high availability, disaster recovery, and general problem resolution.
  • Support multiple servers and multiple databases of high complexity with multiple concurrent users ensuring control, integrity and accessibility of the data.
  • Work with Database team to implement database creation automation scripts via Puppet or similar automation tools.
  • Work with Database team to develop, implement and monitor standards and procedures to ensure optimum performance, scalability and reliability.
  • Review all investigations, analysis, and resolution of database problems; compile and maintain documentation.
  • Maintain and improve database deployment and update processes.
  • Ensure compliance in related tasks with company and regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Deliver on-call and off-hours support for critical database applications as needed.
  • Minimum of 5 years of solid experience as a hands-on production support DB2 LUW Database Administrator and 2 years of solid experience as an Oracle Database Administrator including database security, performance and tuning, standards enforcement, and documentation.
  • Experience with one or more of the following: Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), SAP HANA, Microsoft SQL Server, or Teradata.
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) database offerings such as Amazon Aurora.
  • Experience with any open source database such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
  • Willing to learn new technologies, document and share information.
  • Good working knowledge of best practices; detail and process oriented.
  • Must be able to work independently while simultaneously being a strong team player.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
