Senior Database Administrator – 60020424

This position is located within the Division of Technology of the Department of Administration. Incumbent performs daily SQL Server Administration functions and DBA duties as it relates to installing, creating, updating, configuring, maintaining, securing, developing, protecting, documenting, and ensuring standards are developed and followed for servers and databases. Performs backup and restores databases and servers as necessary. Works to ensure high performance of servers and databases by helping to build an automated tuning system to help with performance and troubleshooting.

Incumbent monitors and tests disaster recovery systems and plans. Performs application and tuning database administration for statewide ERP system, including database tuning, DMV monitoring, providing DBA support for SAP and the Basis team. Performs other duties as required.

Minimum and Additional Requirements:

A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field and two (2) years of experience in support of Intel based enterprise Microsoft servers; or an approved equivalence by the Division of State Human Resources regulations.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Five (5) years of experience with a focus on the support of enterprise level SQL Servers as a highly technical database administrator with excellent T-SQL skills. Extensive knowledge and experience in database management systems (SQL Server 2009-2016) and advanced server configurations. Ability to work in a highly technical and fast paced DBA Team in a multi-customer, data center environment. A Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) Certification is a requirement of this position. Failure to complete successfully will result in disqualification from employment. This position may require the incumbent to work from a remote location beyond the standard 37.5 hours/week and could include working nights, weekends, and holidays. Position may require overnight travel and on-call shifts. Incumbent may be required to work during emergency or hazardous weather situations. Preferred Qualifications:

A well-rounded DBA with extensive knowledge and experience including multiple disciplines or many/all of the following: SQL Server Infrastructure support including building and supporting Clusters or AlwaysOn environments, Virtualization, SQL Development, support of multiple Large Enterprise applications, Security, Compliance, PowerShell, SSIS, ETL, tuning and troubleshooting, DR planning and/or testing, and Backups/Restores.

Should have strong T-SQL skills and experience with SQL Server DMVs.
