Senior Applications Engineer – Java and Mainframe

Primary Responsibilities

  • Analyze, develop technical solutions and code to meet business requirements
  • Implements coding practices consistent with defined conventions
  • Provides valuable insights in development code reviews
  • Performs unit and comprehensive testing for overall quality assurance of functional and technical quality of deliverables
  • Tracks the project status and communicates status to scrum team as appropriate
  • Actively participates in all sprint meetings (Planning, Grooming, Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Review and Retrospectives)
  • Assists in developing standardized work processes, tools, and methodologies that improve quality and profitability
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Providing accurate and timely estimates for technical tasks

You’ll need to act as an effective mentor and role model to other developers as well as earn credibility with business and technology leaders within a demanding deadline-driven environment.


Required Qualifications:
  • 5 or more years of development experience
  • 2 or more years of experience with COBOL, CICS, IBM mainframe OR Java development
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with attention to detail
  • Must be able to collaborate and well with other teams
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience
  • Healthcare industry experience and exposure to EDI and HIPAA transactions
  • Experience with the Agile methodology
  • JAVA experience
  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science
  • CMS, Medicare or Medicaid experience
  • Development experience on a claims adjudication platform
  • Experience working in a virtual team environment
  • Experience with Waterfall and Agile methodologies
