Senior Application Software Packager

Job Overview

The software packaging team provides centralized software packaging services for a variety of environments including desktops, laptops, VDI, Thin Clients and Citrix. This Senior Application Software Packager position is responsible for software packaging of applications including preparation tasks for enterprise software deployment. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of multiple systems (operating/integration/architecture) and programming languages/methodologies in addition to a thorough understanding of server and desktop-based technology utilizing network systems related to an enterprise view.

Required skills

· Knowledge of Admin Studio 2012/Install Shield 11.5

· MSI design

· Windows 7 /8 /10 operating system support

· Desktop Management/Software Deployment experience

· Scripting for automation

· Knowledge of Windows Networking and Active Directory

· Understanding new technologies including application virtualization

· Ability to determine silent installation process for a variety of commercial of-the-shelf applications.

Preferred skills

· Software packaging for deployment with HP Client Automation (HPCA also known as Radia)

· Experience scripting with shell scripting, Powershell, Winbatch, REXX or VBscript

· Familiarity with Microsoft App-V

· Previous airline experience

Essential Responsibilities

· Repackage software applications for automated delivery using ESD tool sets

· Provide desktop management automation through scripting to provide consistent and predictable services

· Understand technical/business requirements gathered from the business units

· Analyze, design, and document platforms/systems to meet enterprise requirements

· Install, customize, maintain, test, and troubleshoot operating systems and other systems software

· Perform root cause analysis to quickly recover from service interruptions and to prevent recurring problems

· Research, evaluate, and recommend emerging technologies for enterprise use to consistently drive down total cost of ownership

· Provide technical support, as needed, to the enterprise

· Perform technical reviews comparing enterprise standard platform components with that of their leading industry competitors

· Consult with other business units (e.g. application groups, DBAs, middleware, etc.) to configure platforms for product installation

· Design and document enterprise standards and procedures

· Ensure platforms/systems conform to established enterprise/industry standards (systems management, security, operating systems, etc.) and reference models

· Implement changes to platforms with minimal impact to the business by following enterprise standards and procedures

· Monitor, manage, and tune platforms to ensure expected availability and performance levels are achieved

· Assist the team with providing 7x24x365 support

· Coordinate activities with internal/external technology owners/service providers

· Plan and implement life cycle management of software

· Keep abreast of industry and technology trends

· May perform other duties as assigned

Basic Entry Requirements

· Associate’s degree or industry certification in an applicable IT field in addition to 5 years applicable experience in repackaging applications for automated delivery and administration of managed desktops in a global enterprise; or

· Bachelor’s degree in an IT field in addition to 4 years applicable experience in repackaging applications for automated delivery and administration of managed desktops in a global enterprise
