Position Title: Senior Application Developer

Location: Marlborough, MA

Role Purpose:
The Senior Application Developer contributes towards the development of multi-terabyte marketing solutions that integrate and optimize our client’s data across numerous sources. The ideal candidate will have a good working knowledge of multiple development environments and languages such as SQL, Java, .Net, Silverlight, and scripting, but only needs in-depth expertise in one or two of these areas. The primary function of this role is the development and maintenance of marketing database solutions to meet client business objectives. You will have an opportunity to create back-end database, middle-ware (SOA) services, and front-end web components for Merkle’s renowned marketing solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Work as part of a global team in a matrix organization.

Developing custom back-end database solutions

Developing n-tier applications and middle-ware services that could include:

Customer facing Preference Centers

Client facing, web-based Lookup Utilities

Web Service integration by either creating or leveraging existing APIs

Landing Pages or other custom applications based on client needs

Hands-on development and support of client deliverables including:

Participating in design sessions

Developing code to implement solutions

Unit testing

Assisting in QA/UAT phase as issues arise

Deploying code and providing initial support

Writing technical documentation

Key Skills and Experience

Qualified individuals possess the Merkle attributes of being smart, curious, committed to vision, passionate, fun/pleasant, an achiever and having a sense of urgency

Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university in Computer Science or related IT field or relevant professional experience

2+ years of Database Development

Solid .Net and/ or Java experience

Ability to work on multiple projects and deliverables concurrently

Experience/Interest in developing and implementing Web Services (SOAP or RESTful)

Proficiency and/or experience with most of the following technologies:

Languages: PL/SQL, Stored Procedures, JavaScript, AngularJS, Java, ODBC, Perl, JSP, Servlets, Active Server Pages, ASP.NET, C#, VB.NET, VBScript, XML, SOAP, WSDL

Familiarity with application platforms such as (JBOSS, IIS, LAMP, WAMP)

Experience with multiple Operating Systems (Linux, Red Hat Linux, UNIX, Windows Server, Windows XP/7, Netezza)

Experience or Knowledge of CMS (Content Management System) platforms a plus

Strong knowledge of software engineering and development methodologies, techniques, and tools, including Version Controls (Subversion, git), Issue Tracking (Jira), and Software Development Lifecycle (waterfall; agile)

Experience in database marketing a plus

Excellent verbal and written communication skills
