Scientific Graphic and Web Designer for ICDC, NMGC and MRSEC (Chemistry)

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

BA/BS degree in communications, marketing, chemistry or chemical engineering, graphic design, art or four years combined equivalent education and experience.

Experience with scientific graphics, molecular structures, and graphical representations

Demonstrated understanding of web design issues, such as browser usability, mobile-readiness, cross-platform compatibility, color and quick loading of images

Ability to communicate complex ideas graphically

Excellent time-management and communications skills

Ability to prioritize work based on deadlines and project scale

Strong writing and copy editing skills

Preferred Qualifications

In-depth knowledge of HTML, InDesign, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, Photoshop, Drupal, WordPress or related applications

Experience with photography and image processing

Knowledge of ChemDraw

Ability to write summary of research achievements and research highlights

33% time to support the Materials Research Science and Engineering Center ( http://mrsec.umn.edu ) with scientific graphic design for use in scientific journals, website conversion to new content management system (likely WordPress), ongoing website maintenance

33% time to support the Inorganometallic Catalyst Design Center ( http://www1.chem.umn.edu/icdc ) with website conversion from Dreamweaver to Drupal, design of scientific graphics for use in scientific journals, design and layout of print newsletters/publications, website development, instructional video production and dissemination, and ongoing website maintenance for ICDC, ICDC director, and ICDC faculty.

34% time to support the Nanoporous Materials Genome Center ( http://www1.chem.umn.edu/nmgc ) with website conversion from Dreamweaver to Drupal, design of scientific graphics for use in scientific journals, design and layout of print newsletters/publications, website development, and ongoing website maintenance for NMGC, NMGC director and NMGC faculty.
