About the Job

The Mu2e Experiment will search for coherent, neutrinoless conversion of muons into electrons in the field of a nucleus with a sensitivity improvement of a factor of 10,000 over previous experiments. Such a charged lepton flavor-violating reaction probes new physics at a scale inaccessible with direct searches at either present or planned high energy colliders. Minnesota is a leading university working to test and build the uniquely designed tracking detector, the key detector for the experiment.

This position would involve working with :
Developing and implementing steps to ensure condition and functionality of detector straws used in the Mu2e Experiment Tracker.

Operate CO2 Laser for cutting straws to length.

Creating a clean room environment, monitoring temperature and humidity of the room.

Analyze and resolve hardware and software problems

Install and maintain hardware, programming, tool development, maintenance and code.

Clean and disinfect laboratories.

Perform lab tests for research.

Recording data

Prepare and create research plots.

Complete logs/notebooks

Record/enter, collect and analyze data.
