GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
This is a territory sales operation marketing Lottery products and servicing Lottery retailer accounts within a district of the state. Employees assigned to this class are responsible for meeting or exceeding territory sales goals, merchandising, retailer recruitment, retailer training and public relations in the assigned territory. This position requires daily travel. ***This position will service all Lottery retailer accounts within the Florida Keys, and a portion of Homestead. This position may require bi-weekly overnight travel, and will be filled at or near the minimum salary. ***”

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: (Note: The omission of specific statements does not prevent management from assigning specific duties not listed herein if such duties are a logical assignment to the position.)

Utilizes effective sales techniques to merchandise, promoter and increase the sale of Lottery products, including, but not limited to, instant tickets, on-line games and the Lottery merchandising program.

Provides, places, and updates point-of-sale materials, including, but not limited to maintenance of the play station and placement of dispensers.

Communicates positive and current information of the Lottery and its products to retailers.

Provides training, guidance to and participates with retailers in effective methods for increasing ticket sales and integrating into core product sales.

Identifies, contacts and recruits potential retailers.

Assists potential retailers in completing and submitting applications and collects application fees.

Analyzes individual retailer sales, recommends improvement to the retailer to increase sales and establishes goals with the retailers.

Explains Lottery policy and procedures to Lottery retailers, potential retailers and others, as appropriate.

Educates retailers and others on programs supported by the Lottery.

Performs retailer terminations as needed and/or directed.

Represents the Department in events, presentations and public speaking as assigned.

Participates in Sales Events, as well as plans, structures, explains and implements statewide and retailer specific promotions, which may include set-up and breakdown of promotional props, display items, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

Resolves issues with Lottery retailers and players regarding Lottery sales, tickets and supplies distribution.

Resolves issues relating to retailer’s licensing.

Maintains ongoing communication with district management regarding issues and concerns as they arise in the assigned territory.

Attend meetings, trainings and seminars as directed by management.

Ensures that timely and appropriate actions, where applicable, are taken regarding instant ticket inventory management.

Maintains top selling games for display.

Maintains daily paperwork including, but not limited to, vehicle logs, timesheets and any others required by departmental policy.

Documents activities of marketing efforts along with other activities related to the territory as required.

Ensures that any state vehicle assigned or used is operated and maintained in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.

Operates a motor vehicle as required to fulfill the duties of the position, which may include overnight trips.

Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Attendance is an essential function of this position.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Ability to move up to 50 pounds.

Ability to work a work schedule which may include nights, weekends and holidays.

Ability to travel as required.

Ability to work independently.

Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.

Ability to travel as required by the position, which may require operating a motor vehicle and overnight travel.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of professional sales experience.

Professional and nonprofessional experience in business, marketing, sales, communications, or a closely related area can substitute on a year for year basis for the required college education. Combinations of college course work and experience as described above can also be substituted for the required education. College course work will be considered equivalent to experience at the rate of thirty (30) semester or forty-five (45) quarter hours on a year for year basis. A maximum of three (3) years of college course work may be substituted.
