Pay Grade:
The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Louisiana State University is looking for a teaching laboratory technician (Research Specialist 1 or 2).

Job responsibilities: Set-up and maintenance of equipment in the introductory physics instructional laboratories. Inventory of currently available lecture demonstrations for use in introductory classes. Assist faculty with the setup and return of demonstration equipment. This position will also assist with the annual departmental equipment and space inventories.

Research Specialist 2: A person holding a MS in physics or a closely related field may be offered the opportunity to teach a class or act as instructor of record for the lab classes.

Minimum qualifications: (Both) Bachelor’s in science, engineering or related technical field. Research Specialist 1: One year of experience with mechanics, machining or electronics. Research Specialist 2: Three years of experience with mechanics, machining or electronics.

Preferred qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in physics, astronomy or related technical field.

Special qualifications: Candidate must be able to work evenings and weekends on occasions when the job duties require it.
