Research Associate

Purpose
Perform computational modeling and simulations of of non-equilibrium plasma discharges with electromagnetic wave interactions.

Essential Functions
Conduct independent research using computational modeling techniques for plasma discharges in the areas of microdischarge phenomena for reconfigurable metamaterials and photonic crystals. The research with develop model based insights into the role of plasmas in determining aggregate properties of these materials for interactions with electromagnetic waves. Conduct research in the area of atmospheric streamer and corona discharges with applications in aerodynamic flow control. Develop chemical kinetics models for the same and implement these models in the context of high-fidelity models of the plasma. Preparation of reports, abstracts, manuscripts and proposals. Make presentations at national and international conferences. Provide instruction, assistance and mentoring to graduate students.
