Rail Electrification Requirements Engineer

The Requirements Engineer will assume the roles and responsibilities of the Requirements Manager in Projects (RMiP) will support the project manager and the project team with the objective of completely recording, following up and evidencing all internal and external requirements and conditions for the project. As member of the project team, the RM coordinates the identification, follow-up and evidencing of requirements within the project. The RMiP is responsible for administration of the recorded requirements using a RM tool, supports the users of this application and enables the creation of project-specific reports and metrics. The RMiP will play a vital role in the safe and timely completion of RM process to ensure projects are delivered on-time and on-budget.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY / TASKS
Provides the necessary tools and structures for the purpose of processing the requirements.
Plans and coordinates the RM project and supports the preparation of requirements documentation (e.g. system requirement specifications, system design specifications).
Ensures the integrity of requirements in line with the rules defined by the Requirements Management process.
Checks and documents the completeness of all evidences for compliance with the requirements.
Provides the controlling instruments that are necessary for the RM tool.
Provides the user (group)-specific reports.
Main Tasks:
o Planning
§ Clarification and determination of RM structures (e.g. levels, modules, attributes) by the project’s underlying conditions
§ Creation, finalization, implementation and maintenance of the RM plan
§ Implementation of the requirements management process within the project
o Implementation
§ Determination of project requirement sources in accordance with project and system manager (e.g. customer requirements, standards, conditions) and transfer to the RM system
§ Maintenance and continuous updating of requirements documentation (e.g. requirements database, system design specifications, system requirement specifications, operating conditions)
§ Methodical support of system engineering in the definition, follow-up and processing of requirements and in creation of the system architecture and technical interfaces
§ Methodical support of the RAMS manager in the definition of RAMS-dependent requirements and conditions and performance of groundwork for safety and RAM documents (safety plan, safety case, etc.)
§ Reporting about the status of requirement management
§ Clarification and specification of the interfaces to non-Siemens RM systems (e.g. customer databases)
§ Participation in reviews and releases of RM-relevant documents
§ Supporting in checking RM-relevant PM milestone results
§ Preparation of baselines and associated documentation in the form of verification reports as a basis for verification, validation and assessment

§ Checking for adherence to RM process specifications and project-specific RM rules
Mentor Junior staff as required
Active team player and be able to work well independently and in a team setting

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in a relevant Engineering discipline (preferred)

COMPETENCIES


Knowledge & Experience:

Minimum 10 years’ experience working as a Requirements Engineer / Requirements Manager
Solid demonstrable knowledge and experience using IBM DOORS
Solid demonstrable knowledge and experience of verification and validation
Rail experience is strongly preferred

Stop work when instructed to do so and only resume or commence work when instructed it is safe to do so
Report all safety and environmental incidents and accidents
