Job Description

Job Title: Public Campaign Manager

Department: Resource Development

Reports To: Corporate Relations Director

FLSA Status: Seasonal/Part-Time

Summary:

Serve as Campaign Management Organization (CMO) lead for workplace fundraising conducted by governmental entities, including: Anchorage School District Charitable Giving Campaign (ASD), Municipal Employee Fundraising Campaign (MUNI), State of Alaska Employee Campaign (SHARE), and University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Provides leadership in the overall management of the contracts and relationships between United Way and Anchorage School District, Municipality of Anchorage, State of Alaska (SHARE), and University Anchorage Alaska.
  • Develops and manages relationships with ASD, MUNI, SHARE, and UAA.
  • Develops and implements a yearly campaign strategy with each governing entity, including pro-active development of relationships with volunteers, donors and potential donors.
  • Recruits, supervises and directs support of administrative staff person and loaned executive(s) involved in the ASD, MUNI, SHARE, and UAA.
  • Provides fundraising support and training to coordinators and keyworkers for all four (4) of the public campaign workforces where appropriate.
  • Analyzes campaign account data, identify trends, and develops specific campaign strategies to achieve fundraising goals for each campaign.
  • Works with the Finance Department and Pledge Processing Section to develop and manage public sector campaign budgets, fiscal agent functions, and pledge processing.
  • Act as liaison to all participating federations.

Qualifications: The following requirements are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to satisfactorily perform the essential job duties.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four- year college or university and/or a minimum of 3-5 years of related experience in not-for-profit fundraising and/or sales/marketing experience
  • Demonstrated education and/or experience in sales force management, personnel management, customer service management, volunteer management and/or project management

Interpersonal and Communication Skill Requirements

  • Personal leadership within a team environment – multi-tasker, self-motivated and takes initiative, takes responsibility for actions
  • Ability to relate and communicate quickly and effectively to donors, volunteers, community, corporate and governmental leaders essential – active listening, interpersonal/cultural sensitivity, sound judgment, strong persuasion and presentation skills
  • Ability to work effectively as a team – creative problem solving, critical thinking, sound judgment, adaptable, flexible, responsive, and volunteer/professional supervisory leadership
  • Organizational culture – Adaptable, flexible, responsive, donor orientation and active understanding and promotion of United Way of Anchorage
  • Professional written and oral communicator
  • Understanding, appreciation, and demonstrated use of social media.

  • Ability to organize, plan and manage multiple tasks, projects and events simultaneously, meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Ability to interpret and present complex research and financial information
  • Ability to analyze complex problems and develop and implement creative solutions
  • Ability to develop and execute multi-year and donor-focused strategic fundraising plans
  • Ability to understand, interpret and present statistical and financial data
  • Skills in sound judgment and decision-making.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications within an MS Windows Operating System.
  • Experience with internet-based research and database management. Ability to learn new software as required by job.
  • Knowledge of military and federal civilian organization and terminology a plus.

Access to reliable insured automobile to be used for work-related travel in the Anchorage area.

Background Check

Must pass criminal background check.

Hours of Work: Part-time position with flexible hours. Approximately 24 hours per week.

May through December. Rare early morning, late evening, and weekend work may be required.

  • Occasional travel to Fairbanks and Juneau required (one or two times a year)
  • Occasional out-of-state travel required for training (possible one time per year).

Salary & Benefits: DOE exempt – seasonal/part-time
