This Prototype Front-End Developer performs rapid, lean development of user interface prototypes for responsive/adaptive web applications and native apps for mobile.

As a member of a tightly-integrated experience design team, this developer will collaborate with all other design team roles and will work to plan and built elegant, usable, and effective interface prototypes for web and mobile.

The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of current front-end dev tools. This candidate is passionate about all aspects of the digital space and understands how to synthesize multiple inputs to create prototypes that effectively demonstrate the expected user interface for purposes of user testing and for making compelling presentations to obtain investment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Function as a peer leader on a “SWAT Team” of UX Architects, Designers, Researchers, business line leaders and product managers charged with

defining the broad strokes of our most significant projects,

establishing the business benefit and strategic value, and

pitching the project to executive management for approval of the capital investment

Synthesize each project’s business goals to understand how your prototype will be used to obtain user feedback and to pitch the project concept for capital investment

Collaborate with UX peers (experience architects, visual designers, content writers, researchers and prototypers) to create world-class customer experience prototypes

Maintain design fidelity, aesthetics and motion as designed and collaborate with team colleagues to further refine the designs in execution.

Design, code, test and debug functional prototypes of responsive/adaptive web applications and native apps for mobile—using contemporary technologies like HTML5, CSS, Javascript, Swift, Java

Perform basic testing (using test scripts where appropriate) to ensure prototypes function reliably, repeatably, and as designed

Participate as an observer in user interviews and usability test sessions

Work rapidly to modify prototypes in response to user testing, often while lab tests are being run

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • At least 7 years experience with developing and implementing applications.

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Bachelor’s in software engineering, computer science or related field of study – or 5 years relevant professional experience working as a front-end developer or similar role
  • Experience working in a multi-channel environment, including desktop/laptop, mobile, installation-based and brick-and-mortar locations — must be able to demonstrate work designing responsive, adaptive and native experiences
  • Knowledge of accessibility and its particular design & development requirements
  • Experience collaborating with large teams using persuasive communication skills
  • Experience delivering work on time and according to requirements

and successfully executing and balancing multiple projects and tasks

  • Comfortable with ambiguity, willing and able to seek out required information to complete assignments
  • A portfolio of work demonstrating high-quality projects, prototypes and products
  • Comfortable working with contemporary UX Design tools, including Sketch, Invision, Marvel, Adobe Creative Cloud and Omnigraffle to communicate with design team colleagues
  • Expert-level experience coding responsive/adaptive web applications and native apps for mobile using contemporary technologies like HTML5, CSS, Javascript, Swift, Java
  • Whole-brain thinkers preferred: analytical and detail-oriented mind-set balanced with strong aesthetic and empathetic sensibility
  • Strong written and verbal communication, analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • 2+ years experience building mockups and prototypes for agency/consulting new business projects and/or technology products/projects for investment
  • Experience building digital products in compliance with WCAG 2.0 accessibility standards and with ADA accessibility guidelines
  • Skillful peer leadership and persuading without authority
  • Experience working within a variety of dev methodologies: waterfall, iterative, scrum and other lean methods
