The Policy, Planning and Sustainability division of Public Works is responsible for planning and programming changes to the City’s multi-modal transportation system, and other City infrastructure, in conjunction with other city, local, regional, and state agencies. This includes providing policy guidance pertaining to Denver’s transportation vision, coordinating studies to identify short and long-term infrastructure needs, conceptual planning for capital improvements, and seeking additional funding opportunities. The Policy, Planning, and Sustainability division of Public Works is a high energy, self-motivated, creative and dedicated staff with excellent communication skills and commitment to Denver Public Works and the City and County of Denver.

About Our Job

NOTHING HAPPENS WITHOUT MONEY!

We are seeking another polished professional to join us and become our capital financing program leader In Public Works, coordinating capital project budgeting requests for multi-modal transportation and other infrastructure capital projects, including: outside grant applications for federal, state, and regional funding the City’s Capital Improvement Program (CIP) annual budgeting and 6-Year Plan. Outside Grant Funding – as the “Grant Liaison” for all divisions of Public Works, you’ll lead and provide quality control for all grant-writing and application processes. You’ll help to “tell our story” to ensure our application wins! You’ll be working with all of the decision makers in the city as well as other governments in the region including elected officials.

City Capital Improvement Program – You’ll lead Public Works submission for annual maintenance and discretionary projects including local match for outside grant funding.

Capital Project Implementation & Transportation Improvement Program – You’ll coordinate funding, interagency grant agreements, and inform elected officials through project kick-off and sometimes beyond.

Strategic Planning and Policy Development – Bring your best game to influence Denver’s future! Your talents are needed to research the best practices from cohort cities for innovation and new policies to guide Denver Public Works. You will be a critical member of our talented team of big-picture thinkers and innovators to plan our future infrastructure, including application of technology and coordination of data analysis for “Smart Cities” initiatives.

About You

Our ideal candidate:
Master’s Degree in in City or Regional Planning, Public Administration, Engineering, Project Management, or a related field. At least five to eight years of public agency planning and successful grant funding research and application in support of planning, design, construction and maintenance of infrastructure including multimodal transportation, utilities, wastewater, buildings and/or public services. Consummate communicator interpreting highly technical engineering and planning information and creating a convincing story to attain funding. Adept at building constructive and effective relationships.

Education Requirement: Baccalaureate Degree in Landscape Architecture, Architecture, Engineering, Project Management, or a related field. Experience Requirement:

Three years of professional project management experience in the related occupational group including planning, managing, and scheduling projects and preparing and reviewing contract documents. Education/Experience Equivalency: A combination of appropriate education and experience may be substituted for the minimum education and experience requirements. Licensure and/or Certification:
