Project and Facilities Engineer

1.) Job title: Project / Facilities Engineer

2.) Superior position: Maintenance Manager

3.) Position objective: Assumes full responsibility and accountability for designated projects, such as managing expansion projects, evaluating and planning shop floor logistics and equipment layout. The incumbent is responsible for planning, administering and completing assigned projects, which may cross several functional areas, such as facilities, operations, marketing or administration. Assignments may vary in length and complexity, but are generally not permanent. The incumbent typically does not supervise staff, but may provide work direction to individuals supporting a project.

Functions:

General responsibilities

Adherence to federal and local law regulations, internal policies and other applicable

rules including ISO/TS 16949, ISO 14001 and ISO 18001 requirements

Continuous improvement of work and activities

Compliance with the corporate mission statement

Cooperation with other people in spirit of mutual respect

Fulfilling thoroughly all tasks within the scope of defined qualifications and responsibilities

Represent the company in professional and respectful manner

Maintaining confidentiality of proprietary information

Adherence to 5S principles

Technical responsibilities:

Interpret mechanical, electrical schematics, construction layouts and building drawings,

Interacts with City and State regulatory agencies as regards permits and compliance.

Specific responsibilities:

Communicates / coordinates project objectives to architects, general contractors and design team

Coordinates multiple on-site contractors of varying disciplines, monitors and ensures their ability to meet company objectives and timelines

Coordinates with multiple internal departments on how to ensure minimal interruptions with existing production lines during construction phases

Hires and manages contractors based on competitive bidding, best practices and performance history.

Ensures projects remain within budgetary and timing constraints.

Defines project scopes – forecast budgetary expenses and develop timelines

Compiles and presents project status reports (MS Projects)

Coordinates application as regards:

-Hirschvogel safety principles

-Hirschvogel environmental policy/principles and ensures rules for occupational safety

(cleanliness)

Coordinates / manages in conjunction with management work schedules, plant projects with attention on cost efficiency and completion dates.

Coordinates and manages facility engineering task as regards plant layouts, energy requirements, special projects including equipment installation and project management

5.) Job profile:

5.1.) Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering preferred with 3-5 years of practical experience.

5.2.) Experience:

3 – 5 years job related experience in facility planning, facility layout, equipment justification / installation and project management.

Technical know-how:

Fundamental understanding of facility electrical, plumbing, water, air and HVAC systems

Understanding of EHS, Quality and Lean manufacturing management systems

Computer knowledge to include Microsoft Office / Tools)

5.4) Equipment/clothing used to perform the job:

Personal Protective Equipment in applicable areas (safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed shoes, uniforms)

Authorizations:

Access to internal IT and telephone network

SAP access

Internet access

Cell phone (in accordance with internal policy)

Contacting external business partners in scope of relevant responsibilities

Stopping the production process in case of safety issue or in case of inadequate quality of produced components.

6.1) Work environment/abilities: The facility has smooth cement floors and overhead fluorescent lighting. The workers are subject to noise, dirt, dust, smoke, chemicals, moving machinery (forklift, cranes, etc.) and seasonal temperature
