THE ROLE YOU WILL PLAY:

  • Purchasing activities for new model programs and mass production such as part cost change analysis and reporting, cost reduction promotion and reporting
  • Cost reduction and value added promotion and reporting, evaluation and approval.
  • Also, includes parts maker-layout promotion and analysis.
  • Manage the material procurement processes with both domestic and foreign sources for metals, stampings, castings and purchased fabricated requirements.
  • The negotiation of all, or a specific portion of production tooling and/or services; actively participating in the development of tooling strategy, sourcing/negotiations; working closely with Tooling Admin and Purchasing group on global/regional tooling budget execution and interface with suppliers.
  • Support strategies that will help the company achieve the most competitive parts pricing.
  • This position also requires that commodity strategy execution is inclusive of this level.

BACKGROUND PROFILE:

  • Ideally, you will possess a four-year degree in business or engineering field.
  • Preferred that you possess 2+ years’ experience with purchasing in a tooling/metal stamping parts environment (specifically die design, process specification, cost table creation, fabrication, and machining)
  • It is suggested that you have thorough understanding of assigned suppliers Quality Cost Delivery characteristics
  • Preferred that you can analyze and negotiate quotes from potential suppliers
  • Initiate and promote innovative ideas to reduce cost and improve efficiency for assigned suppliers
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings (including tool drawings), basic engineering documents and bill of material.
  • Knowledge of Metal tooling procurement
  • Experience with DIEMATRIX, FASTBLANK, CIMATRON AND CATIA preferred
