Program Support Assistant (Geriatrics)

Incumbent is responsible for administrative support for the Geriatrics and Extended Care Service. The includes to the Administrative Officer and Service Chief.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepares letters memoranda, agenda and meeting minutes using Microsoft Word.
  • Prepares PowerPoint presentations for briefings and create pamphlets using Microsoft Publisher
  • Prepares and maintains Microsoft Excel spreadsheets with various GEC data and Statistics.
  • Maintains the Service’s records filing systems.
  • Maintains the Service Chief calendar.
  • Performs automated timekeeping duties.
  • Maintains employee 6-part folders and provider credentialing

Work Schedule: 8:00am to 4:30pm Monday thru Friday.

Position Description Title/PD#: Program Support Assistant / PD#/ This is a position covered by a Bargaining Unit (AFGE).

Time-in-grade: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements (52-weeks in a position at the grade level of GS-05 or higher). Specialized Experience:

Applicants must have One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-05) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: collecting, organizing, filing, and maintaining documentation to ensure compliance with the requirements of internal and external review agencies and/or accrediting bodies in the credentialing, maintaining computer database,cross checkinglicensures, registrations, and certifications.

There is no educational substitution for the GS-06 level.

Competency 1 – Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.

Competency2 – Ability to work effectively under pressure of tight time frames, short completion windows, and rigid deadlines with minimal supervision

Competency3 – Ability to work cooperatively with others at all managerial levels and to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work is generally sedentary. Typically, the Program Support Assistant (OA) sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items such as papers, books, small pieces of equipment and supplies, or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

Work Environment:
Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts of a medical center/hospital environment that require normal safety precautions typical of places such as offices, meeting and training rooms, or libraries. The workspace is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated.
