SUMMARY

We currently have a full-time opening for a Product Specialist in our Boston, MA . territory. Seeking candidates with a healthcare/nursing background with either a medical device and/or healthcare company in a clinical or education position or other related areas.

The Product Specialist is responsible for delivering customer-focused, expert education with emphasis on the safe and effective use of the Obalon Balloon System. This position is responsible for initial and on-going product training, the day-to-day case management of the territory, and to help coordinate the logistics and equipment needed to perform the Obalon Procedure. In addition, the Product Specialist will also assist the Executive Account Manager in practice development initiatives related to consistent utilization and growth within accounts. The Product Specialist role is a field based role supporting Bariatric Surgeons, Gastroenterologists, Plastic Surgeons and their respective support staff. This position requires close collaboration with the sales, clinical, and marketing teams.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform product training for new and established customers with an emphasis on appropriate use and safety in accordance with the published guidelines and Instructions for Use (IFU).
  • Coordinate and ensure the clinical logistics of each practice within the territory.
  • Conduct training to ensure proper patient selection, device placement, device removal, and follow up care.
  • Demonstrate the ability to understand and convey treatment benefits, risks, and safety protocols.
  • Remain current on relevant scientific literature, patient procedures, and Obalon marketing initiatives.
  • Responsible for relaying field based observations (e.g. trends, challenges, etc.) to management of information relative to product performance, customer satisfaction, and safety.
  • Serve as liaison with the clinical team to support any assigned initiatives.
  • Serve as a key contact for field team members and customers regarding product and procedural applications.
  • Partner with EAM and Director of Sales to diagnose customer needs and develop a described, targeted account specific education strategy that fits each practice and their support staff.
  • Work in conjunction with sales and marketing teams to properly identify, prioritize targets, and achieve corporate, regional, and territory goals and objectives.
  • Coordinate with Obalon’s marketing department to deploy new or revised training assets for both patient and physician facing campaigns at the territory/account level.
  • Support, attend, and/or host patient seminars and educational events to help drive patient demand and utilization.
  • Proactively work with internal stakeholders to coordinate and assist with timely feedback and training process adjustment recommendations.
  • Attend and assist in working major conventions and commercial meetings as determined by management.
  • Support customer service with any and all adverse event reporting and/or follow up. Follow all Regulatory and Quality System requirements.
  • Manage associated administrative tasks and responsibilities (e.g. budget, travel, updated training materials, documentation, etc.).
  • This position will assume and perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A./ B.S.) from four-year college or university or equivalent experience in nursing, or other related field.
  • A minimum of 4 years of industry or healthcare experience is required.
  • Medical device experience in a clinical or education position or other related areas; experience working with gastroenterologists, bariatric surgeons, plastic surgeons, medical aesthetics is a plus.
  • Experience and understanding of various imaging devises and equipment preferred (e.g. Digital X-Ray, Fluoroscopy, and Endoscopy Platforms).
  • Familiar with a variety of the field’s procedures, practices, and concepts.
  • Industry protocol: Must follow hospital, laboratory, and industry protocols for credentialing, HIPAA compliance, and fair business practices. This means registering with the assigned credentialing service and following any hospital protocols for accessing physicians, or discussing patient cases.
  • Travel up to 75%, which may include overnight / weekend travel is required.
  • Must have a sufficient personal line of credit to accommodate required travel and expenses such as hotel, flights, car rental and meals.
