Product Manager

As a rapidly growing start-up, we’ve made significant inroads in the SaaS Industry offering specialised consulting to our partners and clients. With knowledge gained from this testbed environment, we’ve built our product to alpha stage and are now ready to get some real scalable code written and we want to build the team.

As the head of the product team, you’ll make a valuable contribution in these 7 key areas:

  • Product architecture alongside the VP of Engineering
  • Team-bridging between the delivery and product teams
  • Getting the product ready for scalable expansion into existing client accounts
  • Product definition and strategy
  • Roadmap definition and planning to align with customer needs
  • Product operations definition and design alongside the VP of Engineering
  • Build magnificent prototypes that excite the client, the delivery team and the product team

Requirements

A successful candidate should have these key characteristics:

Technical Skills:

  • Bachelor of Science or related degree, applicable to this field
  • Experience leading agile teams developing large scale, complex platforms and applications
  • Portfolio of products that showcase stellar product management work
  • Rapid prototyping
  • Experience in web, mobile and bot application development and API integration from a product lens
  • Experience with Cloud computing platforms
  • 10+ years’ experience in customer facing business services environments with Enterprise Software deployment
  • Micro-service application experience

Soft Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail and customer service orientation
  • Customer-journey thinking and design-approach
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to problem-solve while building and maintaining strong working relationships with customers
  • Strong intuitive leadership ability that leads by example
  • An ability to work in a customer-focused, client-facing, target-driven environment
  • Comfortable leading a group of people (both virtually or in-person) to bring focus and control over complex projects
  • A high degree of flexibility, team spirit, accountability and independence
  • Project management experience in a technology professional services, or SaaS environment with knowledge in various project management methodologies (Agile, PMI, Lean, etc)
  • Proven ability to leading development team processes such as code review, release management, and quality control
  • Experience in solution-implementation projects in large organizations
  • Change management experience

Additional Requirements:

  • Located in, or willing to relocate to, the Dallas-Fort Worth area
  • Authorized to work in the United States

Wow Factors:

  • Experience building AI and blockchain products
  • Startup environment experience and/or the ability to work remotely
    (virtual teams)


OUTPUTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • STRATEGY: Work with the CEO and the sale team to disrupt, improve and enhance the client offering to enable an account expansion strategy which will see each of the 2000 clients we have on our books, growing into 1M plus accounts in their own right
  • PRODUCT: Assumes full responsibility for the successful design, build, testing and delivery of a successful product for the company.
  • PRODUCT: Assumes full scrum master responsibility for the product team.
  • PRODUCT: Assumes full responsibility for the scope definition and management of the product vision.
  • PEOPLE: Engages and interacts with the CS team to ensure that the product being developed is aligned with the market need and the chosen focus areas.
  • CS: Assumes full responsibility for the delivery of a product that our CS team can use to create greater service delivery excellence to our clients and partners.
  • SALES: Works closely with the sales team to determine the correct pricing strategy for the product being built and ensures that the pricing strategy is phased according to the development phases of the product itself.
  • PARTNERS: Engages in market research to understand client and partner needs and to align product vision accordingly.
  • FINANCE: Manages the overall cost associated with the product team to ensure capital efficiency.
  • LEGAL: Works with the legal team to ensure that the product adheres to applicable legislation.
  • MARKETING: Assumes full responsibility for the competitor research related to the product and communicates this clearly to the entire company in an agreed manner with the leadership team.
  • MARKETING: Works in tandem with the marketing team to align usability testing with marketing activities to ensure that every opportunity is being capitalised on to create brand and product awareness leading up to launch and beyond.
  • MARKETING: Works in tandem with the marketing team to ensure launch strategies are aligned to what the market needs.
  • MARKETING: Works with the marketing team on all forms of traction experiments.
  • DESIGN: Ensures that all design work extends beyond the product into the messaging and marketing strategies.
  • FUNDING: works with the executive team to produce product documentation that enhances the funding journey required to scale the product activity within the company.
  • BOARD: Works with the executive team to provide scrum reporting around product build activity to feed back to all external stakeholders on a monthly basis.

KPI MEASURES:

Leadership:

  • Ensuring the overall health of the product team
  • Clear communication downward and upward weekly on progress and delivery
  • Measure: 80% velocity

System // Process:

  • The definition, setup and management of all scrum processes related to successful product delivery. These include:
    • Product scope definition
    • Product visual definition to reinforce scope output
    • Product vision management to shape the specific product phase output
    • Daily, weekly and monthly backlog, icebox and sprint management inside Pivotal
    • Sprint planning, sprint retrospectives, delivery summaries, risk management
    • Usability testing
    • Code sign off
    • Working with the lead architect or VP of engineering to do all code reviews and code management inside staging environments, live environments and Github repositories
  • Measure: single version of the working truth, that a person, unknown to the company can navigate, unassisted once inside the company systems

Individual:

  • Measure: outputs that are clearly communicated to the whole team, that make this persona more and more human and real to every single person in the company, the output of this work, unifies the team in focus.
