Postdoctoral Associate

The CAP/CLIA-certified Cancer Genomics Laboratory in the Department of Pathology at Texas Children’s Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated PhD, MD, or MD/PhD individual for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position in Translational Genomics of Pediatric Cancer. This individual will serve the Department of Pathology & Immunology at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM), and its research mission in the Genomic Medicine and Discovery Division at Texas Children’s Hospital, and will participate in research and development in cancer genomics with a focus on molecular diagnostics, under the supervision of Angshumoy Roy, MD, PhD. The successful candidate will work in the Department of Pathology at Texas Children’s Hospital.

Review, analysis and curation of whole genome, whole transcriptome sequencing (RNA-seq) and whole exome sequencing data on pediatric cancers

Design, development and implementation of next-generation sequencing (NGS)-based tests in cancer genomics

Review, curation and interpretation of genomic and molecular data from clinical tests and assist in interpretation and reporting

Supporting the analysis, testing and development of bioinformatics analysis pipelines for next-generation sequencing (NGS) tests

The successful applicant must be able to work independently under minimal supervision, and have excellent organizational and communication skills.

Experience in the Linux/UNIX/Mac environment and with Python and Perl is highly desirable.

In addition to adhering to the policies set forth by BCM and TCH, the person must understand and act on the need for discretion due to the sensitive nature of research involved.

Required

M.D. or Ph.D.

A background in genetics and molecular biology is required, and applicants with a strong bioinformatics background or with 2 years of previous experience in cancer genomics will be favorably considered.
