PeopleSoft Database Administrator (Senior Consultant MIS- Level B), EITS/Corporate Applications

The PeopleSoft Database Administrator (DBA) administers the day-to-day PeopleSoft (PS) systems database in the Oracle 12c RAC in Unix 0/S. The PeopleSoft DBA responsibilities include administration for all PS development & production environments databases, creating new and refreshing non-production environments databases, performance tuning, troubleshooting, on-going maintenance and application of patches and upgrades.


Responsibilities

  • Install, configure and provide technical support for Oracle 12c database in RAC as well as nonRAC on Unix (IBM-AIX)
  • Replicate/recover/refresh various PeopleSoft environments with desired backup of Oracle database
  • Provide technical support and assists other PS resources to troubleshoot and resolve production/development support issues for the Database servers
  • Maintain and monitor PeopleSoft databases in Oracle 12c
  • Implement various measures to monitors, fine-tune, optimize and administer the databases that make up the PeopleSoft environment
  • Create, execute backup/restore strategy and scripts for databases in Unix environment
  • Support and implement database scaling methodologies
  • Design and implement database security models
  • Assist PeopleSoft developers in fine-tuning of batch jobs
  • Participate in infrastructure planning, database design, data mapping and conversion activities that meet functional and operational requirements as well as IT standards
  • Communicate appropriately and effectively in verbal and written form with business clients and colleagues
  • Participate in team meetings and perform normal administrative duties such as status reporting
  • Provide technical knowledge to the IT department and the PS project team

Minimum Qualifications

1. A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, applied Mathematics, Business Administration, Economics/Statistics, Telecommunications, Data Communications, or a related field of study; and
2. Five (5) years of progressive, responsible experience in the field of data processing, computer systems and applications.
Operations Specialty requires supervisory experience (5 years).
Network Services requires a telecommunications background and experience.
3. Broad knowledge and expertise in the characteristics of computers, peripheral devices, communications systems and hardware capabilities, programming languages, E.D.P. applications, systems analysis methodology, data management and retrieval techniques; or
4. A satisfactory equivalent combination of training, education and experience.
