Patient Accounting Manager

Works under the supervision of the Chief Financial Officer, Manages and
directs the activities and functions of the Patient Accounting and Admitting
Departments. Monitors performance and evaluates employees in compliance
with hospital policies. Performs other duties as assigned.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES
1. Implements the goals and objectives established by the Executive Vice
President.

Plan, organize, coordinates and controls the activities of the Patient
Accounting and Admitting Departments.

3. Keeps the Executive Vice President informed about the status of the
Patient Accounting and Admitting Departments.

4. Plan, develop, and monitor the Patient Accounting and Admitting department budgets.

5. Develop and monitor Department Quality Assurance Program.

6. Supervise staff

a. Screen, interview and select candidates

b. Provide orientation, training, and direction to employees new to job.

c. Schedule, supervise, and evaluate work performance

d. Solve problems as necessary to ensure maximum potential effectiveness.

e. Plan and coordinate staff education programs.

f. Review and approve department time records and resolve discrepancies

7. Coordinate and supervise the entire posting, billing and collection
operation ensuring that the accounts receivable records meet the standards
established by the Executive Vice President.

8. Coordinate the activities with third party agencies, insurance companies,
Medical Records department and patients.

9. Coordinate and work closely with hospital’s Utilization Review
department

Keeps abreast of all regulations and standards to assure compliance with
orders or directive issued by duly constituted governmental/regulatory agencies.

Complies with the hospital’s Corporate Compliance Program including,
but not limited to, the Code of Conduct, laws and regulations, and hospital
policies and procedures.

Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Must be free from governmental sanctions involving health care and/or financial
    practices.
  • Complies with the hospital’s Corporate Compliance Program including,

    policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Education: College Graduate with degree in business related or 3 years
    experience in hospital Patient Accounting Department
  • Licensure / Certifications: CMPA or AGPAM certification preferred
  • Experience: 3-4 years supervisory experience in Patient Accounting/Admitting
  • Interpersonal Skills: Highly motivated and self-directed. Personal integrity
    with the ability to be flexible.
  • Essential Technical/Motor Skills: Fine Dexterity skills, Ability to type,
    Ability to speak clearly.
  • Essential Physical Requirements: Lifting – light, 20 lbs., sitting
    for prolonged periods of time.
  • Essential Mental Abilities: Problem-solving, Explaining/Teaching, Attention
    to Detail, and Assessing and Evaluating.
