Position Summary: The Outreach Worker is responsible for the recruitment of homeless Veterans who are in need of employment and supportive services. The Outreach Worker works closely with the Veteran Services Coordinator and the Director of Behavioral Health to accomplish the mission and service goals of Aletheia House.

Primary Responsibilities:

-Actively recruit Veteran participants who are in need of housing and supportive services.

-Provide outreach and engagement services.

-Conduct regular visits to homeless shelters, soup kitchens, the Birmingham VA medical Center, etc. as well as conducting street outreach in the alleys, encampments, and abandoned houses where many homeless veterans live.

-Identifying, recruiting, and enrolling at least 5-6 participants weekly into the program. Enrollment will come from street outreach, referral from other homeless service providers, and referrals from Veterans Affairs.

-Assist in the collection of follow-up data by locating individuals who have received services. -Coordinate and communicate outreach tracking activities with other staff members and accurately documenting all activities.

-Participate in required staff meetings and trainings.

-Perform other duties as assigned by the Veteran Services Coordinator, Clinical Director, Chief Operating Officer, and/or Executive Director.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

-Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.

-Ability to travel around the varying counties (Madison, Morgan, and Limestone Counties) to recruit participants.

-Excellent writing, communication, organizational and time management skills with knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

-Exceptional interpersonal skills to relate with participants and resource providers.

Qualifications:

-High school diploma or GED required.

-Former homeless Veteran preferred. -Valid Alabama drivers’ license and good driving record required.

Travel:

-This position requires some travel in order to recruit participants in the counties serviced.

Physical Requirements:

-Requires the physical mobility to sit, stand, bend and walk for moderate periods of time. -Requires the ability to drive personal motor vehicle. Mileage reimbursement is offered.

Job Salary:

$30,000 – $32,000 annual salary

Hours:

F/T, Exempt, Monday – Friday 8:00am-4:00pm
