Oracle Applications Developer

Our Oracle Applications Developers are responsible for the support of the production Oracle EBS system in addition to the analysis, development, deployment of customizations and extensions to the Oracle EBS at the Medical College of Wisconsin. The position is a member of a large, diverse team reporting to the Manager of Application Development. Strong partnership and customer satisfaction is a key measurement of success for this position.

Purpose

Under limited supervision, develop and implement business solutions through the full software life cycle. The Enterprise Programmer Analyst is specifically responsible for the design, development, testing, integration, deployment, and maintenance of complex ERP software applications.

Primary Functions

• Designs, analyzes, codes, tests, debugs, modifies and documents moderately complex applications requiring thorough knowledge of academic applications and processes with limited supervision.

• Quickly converts concepts and ideas into solutions through the preparation of detailed specifications consistent with the IS development methodology for academic application projects and customizations that will be integrated with existing applications.

• Analyzes and modifies existing academic applications and processes, and provides recommendations for system and process improvements.

• Diagnoses and resolves problems in the maintenance and support of academic applications.

• Interacts with client and technical teams to define requirements, resolve issues and develop solutions.

• Provides input when reviewing new academic application designs to ensure consistency with business objectives and technical standards.

• Operates within a complex product and academic environment requiring the ability to manage multiple requests. Able to work independently and maintain focus on priority tasks.

• Collaborates with the academic and management teams to develop efficient plans, processes, timelines and work required for addressing all identified support and upgrade activities.

• Partners with end-users and technical staff to diagnose and resolve problems relating to a variety of academic processes.

Ability to convert concepts and ideas into finished solutions, through the collaboration with business users of varing experience.

Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in a full lifecycle environment including production support.

Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential. Strong critical thinking, problem solving, and attentiveness to detail required.

Experience working with a minimum of three of the following Oracle modules: Finance, HR, Payroll, LD, Projects, Grants, iExpense, and iProcurement.

Experience developing Web Services and integration methodologies coupled with the knowledge and experience with Oracle SOA Suite 11g, Web Services, ADF, JSF, JSP, XML/XSL, and BPEL.

Prior experience using a software configuration management system and issue tracking system (e.g., StarTeam).

Minimum Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Related Field

Minimum Required Experience:

  • 5+ years of proven custom development and production support experience in an Oracle R12 ERP environment.
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience with Oracle Programming skills (SQL, PL/SQL), Oracle Applications Framework (OAF), Oracle Forms 10g, Oracle Reports 10g, XML Publisher, Web ADI, Discoverer Administration, Unix Scripting, Change Management systems and AIM documentation.
  • 5+ years’ experience and proven technical foundation expertise in three of the following Oracle modules: PO, AP, FA, AR, GL, HR, Payroll, LD, GMS, iExpense and iProcurement.
  • 2+ years of bi-directional data interface/integration experience between Oracle and 3rd party systems using standard APIs.

Preferred Experience: 5 years of progressively more responsible Oracle development experience
