Oper Systems Analyst 1 – Jr. Mainframe Engineer

We are looking for candidates who are both ambitious and have a passion around mainframe systems. The Wells Fargo Mainframe and Midrange Services team consists of 234 people providing support for operating systems, infrastructure software, hardware, and storage for one of the largest and most efficient mainframe environments in the world.

We seek someone with entry level mainframe and/or java skills to join this dynamic team, working as part of the engineering teams in support of our transaction management system on the mainframe environment. Our system is supported 24 hours and 7 days per week (24 x 7), therefore production support is also available in an “On-Call” environment 24 x 7. The team will provide extensive training on Wells Fargo’s mainframe technologies and senior engineers will provide mentoring to the new team member. The ideal candidate will represent his/her respective team when working on system issues and during project planning meetings. In addition, they will utilize their technical skills to participate in systems design and documentation processes. Having excellent personal communication skills will help to integrate this person very quickly into the team. In this role, the team member will provide technical support for our systems and other system software. Under supervision, use diagnostic tools and detailed specifications to troubleshoot routine systems and/or software problems to maintain or restore service, resolve basic issues or escalate as needed to meet established service level agreements. Update required logs and reports. Assist with systems programming tasks associated with utility programs, maintenance of directories or operating system maintenance, modifications or upgrades. Update related documentation and procedures.

Location can be in Charlotte, NC, Winston-Salem, NC, Minneapolis, MN, or Chandler, AZ.

The required qualification of 6+ months of information technology experience can be met by considering educational achievements.

Base hours are 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM local time with a minimum of 40 hours per week. The resource may be required to start early or stay later, as well as work some weekend maintenance windows, as needed. Regular on-call support will be a requirement once training has progressed. Travel requirements are minimal.

Required Qualifications

• A BS/BA degree or higher
• 6+ months of information technology experience

• Ability to gather and document technical requirements
• Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision in a structured environment
• Ability to troubleshoot common computer software problems
• Good PC skills with the aptitude to learn new systems quickly
• Knowledge and understanding of JCL (Job Control Language)
• Knowledge and understanding of mainframe systems
• Knowledge and understanding of TSO (Time Sharing Options)

Other Desired Qualifications

• Limited knowledge of one or more of the following languages: Assembler, Java, REXX, or COBOL
