On-Site Supervisor/Heating Ventilation & Air (HVAC) Technician

Performs maintenance, diagnostic testing, overhauling, installation, and repairs on a large variety of extremely sophisticated refrigeration, dehumidification, air-conditioning, ventilation, and heating systems equipment. The systems serve critically controlled environmental installations. Incumbent will research specifications as provided by other parties and make installation corrections required to ensure proper function of equipment as required by tenant agency requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform HVAC service calls and preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment.
  • Perform equipment repairs including carpentry, painting, plumbing and electrical tasks through use of varied types of test equipment such as volt-meters, amprobes, psychrometers, capacitor analyzer, temperature testers, leak detectors, micrometer, CO2 testers, vacuum gauges, and megohmmeters.
  • Communicate service details with customers.
  • Enter job scope and time into computer and complete repair paperwork.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in building maintenance
  • Holds a valid and current Universal EPA Certification.
  • Must be able to use hand power tools and basic hand tools.
  • Able work effectively within a team.
  • Knowledge of HVAC, chilled water systems.
  • Knowledge of ASHRAE regulations.
  • Working knowledge of carpentry, painting, and electrical systems.
  • Focused on providing strong customer service.
  • Must have basic reading and writing skills.
  • Basic computer skills and able to learn new systems.
  • Able to prioritize tasks and manage time to meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to lift and work with heavy equipment.
  • Able to perform job responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  • Must have strong attendance record and be punctual.
  • Able to work with others in a professional manner.
  • Must obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license, and be insurable by the company’s insurance carrier.
  • Work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Occasionally required to work evening, weekend and on-call shifts.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government background security clearance.

Physical Demands:
Position consists of frequent sitting, using hands/fingers, handling, reaching with hands and arms, talking, hearing, and seeing (up close, at a distance, along the periphery, with depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus), occasional walking or standing, occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds. Work Environment:
Work is primarily performed in an office setting and or building, but may also be performed in a maintenance facility.

Employee may be exposed to sharp objects and may be exposed to some heat, loud noise, chemicals, lead and vibration. Katmai strictly adheres to the Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHA) regulations. Use of personal protective equipment is mandatory if applicable. Employee will be exposed to a wide variety of people in differing functions, personalities and abilities.

Work Schedule:
40 hours per week. May be required to work overtime hours as needed to complete assignment or project. May require flexible work schedule.
