O.N.E. Community Center Program Director

General Purpose

The O.N.E. Program Director will work in cooperation with supervisor and the Program Counselor in carrying out specific program activities at the site assigned.

Essential Job Functions

Follow all departmental and rules and regulations.

Assist in the planning of programming at the Old North End (O.N.E.) Community Center.

In cooperation with staff develop and implement activities to include: arts, recreation, health/wellness.

Work with AALV to create education and recreation programs to serve culturally diverse families.

Collaborate with staff to identify scholarship opportunities for AALV referred children and families.

Responsible for oversight and security of O.N.E. Community Center spaces as needed.

Transport program participants in 10-14 passenger van.

Check program areas for safety hazards and report deficiencies to supervisor.

Attend staff meetings and staff trainings as required.

Report all accidents occurring within jurisdiction to supervisor.

Administer proper First Aid as required.

Required to be on site 30 minutes before the program starts for set up and preparation.

Required to clean up at the end of each program.

Participate in the evaluation process.

All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements

High school Diploma or equivalent required.

College course work in Education, childhood development, family studies, or recreation preferred.

Previous experience working with children in a group or individualized situation preferred.

Ability to supervise and organize groups of children for activity programs.

Ability to deal effectively with discipline problems, co-workers and supervisors.

Knowledge of safety principles and practices as they apply to group activities.

Knowledge of a variety of recreation and/or leisure activities and group games.

A cooperative attitude and a team player.

Prior First-Aid / CPR / Lifeguard training required.

Enthusiasm, patience, a desire to work with children and families creatively in many settings.

Van Safety/Operations Training required.
